my order is supposed to ship tomorrow and i am just not quite sure about this nexus. i love the form factor, i love the screen. im not concerned about the specs but im not going to lie i wish a couple of them would be better. namely the GPU and camera. those two things would never stop me from getting the phone but almost everything else i have read would! if you look at the forums for the nexus and the rezound it is clear that the rezound seems to be less problematic. better signal strength, better battery. now that there is an official bootloader unlock the decision is getting harder. not to mention i have been pleased with every HTC phone i have owned, except battery life!!! also seeing the screen shots of HTCs ICS with sense last week is tugging at me as well. the one thing that keeps drawing me back in is the pure google experience...the updates. im just not sure that is a big enough reason for me to sacrifice the most important part, the phone, to have latest updates.

also, something i was telling a friend before the nexus came out, people hear hate on skins alot but the fact is they bring ALOT to the table to the average user. there has been numerous posts on here as to why the nexus doesnt bring number/contact matches up while dialing, why you cant batch delete emails, etc, etc. those are VERY USEFUL items that people take for granted. i dont want to have to search through dozens of 3rd party apps to get functionality that was baked into every phone i have owned since i have been an Android fan.

i guess im just ranting but also looking for input from people who were/are in my shoes.

TIA

Only problem with the Nexus is the camera, signal issues, and battery. But your not gonna find a phone with no problems.

I am an "average" user coming from a Droid X. I do miss the contact/number matching, but beyond that I don't notice the missing skin. I used ADW with my DX and had fun playing with the settings but I don't need a skin. ICS functions and looks so good that I would recommend stock to anyone. Android has a learning curve regardless of the skin so learning on stock ICS or Sense is the same. Maybe I am just willing to overlook more than most but I love it and have no regrets about getting it.

The camera will be fine as long as you've never used the iPhone 4S camera. That thing was a dream to use... quality and speed was awesome. The other Android phones I've had are the OG Droid, Droid X, Fasciante and Blunderbolt and the camera on the GNex is just fine.

those pics do look good!! that damn sushi!!!!!!!

ill clarify even further here. i dont mind finding the best apps for the task i am looking into. the biggest concern is signal strength. i live in a mountainous region in a remote area. my coverage is already spotty at best. i live on my phone and cant be pulling over all the damn time to avoid dropping calls. that is of great concern to me! i wish an update specific to radio tweaks would have hit before i was do mine to see what improvements if any would be realized. im not concerned with 4G at all as we just got 3G 18 months ago. 4G is a long way off. i do travel and will look forward to using it in 4G cities.

the battery life to me is not incredibly worrisome as i have lived with the incredible and incredible 2, neither of which had stellar life. if it is on par with either of those i will be fine.

Granted I'm near Boston, MA but I have zero signal issues. Keep in mind if you were too look at the actual signal strength in the settings you'll see that your strength is just as good as other phones. The indicator on the status bar just isn't displaying as well as other phones that's all. My only issue has been the camera, it's not as good as the Rezound. I returned the Rezound a few weeks back due to the possibility of not getting it rooted and the delay I was sure to see with ICS release, as we saw with the gingerbread release on the Thunderbolt.

The phone is great stop reading too much into peoples reviews the cam and processor are awesome. You'll like it

My thoughts - the two smart phones i had before this were the inctedible and tbolt, and i liked them both very much. When i got into rooting, first with dinc and then asap with tbolt, i didnt reqlly like sense but i did warm back up to it, and these days i actually really like sense, esp 3 and 3.5.

You cant go wrong with a rezound, if you like sense and dont mind getting your hands a little dirty with root and roms and regularly tinkering with things.

Gnex - great phone, love the build and weight, love the screen, specs are really nice and leave almost nothing lacking for me, the one downside is the camera - actually does take very nice pics but is finicky abt light and movement / shaking.

Extended battery is awesome, must have. I dont carry spares.

Havent rooted it yet - was like a mad scientist with dinc and bolt, but a mixyure of this phone being awesome and less free tine has me stock still.

Anyway - think u just have to hold them both, weigh whats important to you feature wise, then trust your gut. They will both satisfy, in my opinion.

But one thing to remember - verizon will put all phones on backburner once newer devices come out, but google will service the nexus for years.

Since you said you struggle with signal already, make sure you drive all over to test the device out before your time to return is up. I've already noticed my GNex does not work as well in certian places around here that my 4S did work.

I have no scientific data.. but some of the bars and other places I hang out at, my device would just have no signal... It's been a while since I've had that kind of issue with a phone.. The Bluderbolt wasn't the best, but it did OK. Also this is all 3G, I dont have 4G yet. I'm the mobile guy here at work and I am always switching devices so I'm going to wait it out with this one for a little bit.

I'm in the middle or exchanging the nexus for the rezound..(went to store, forgot the stupid barcode part lol)....anyways basically I'm returning the nexus due to its horrible battery life (im in a 3g only area, and want to experience 4g when I return to college in a few weeks which means the battery will be even worse. Another major annoyance was losing 3G repeadingly (all this morning, which made my decision easy to make). ANOTHER reason is I love listening to music on my phone, and the speaker on the nexus makes some scary noises while playing songs..not just popping but screetching noises. I picked the rezound being my last phone was a htc incredible and it was wonderful! I am excited to go get my rezound in an hour to see what she offers...also cant wait for ics to come out! :)

What are you talking about? I batch delete email all the time on my Galaxy Nexus.

Why don't you actually wait until you start experiencing ICS and the Galaxy Nexus before you start worrying so much about it? I mean, really. Common sense.

i havent lost signal due to the gnex yet(verizon is another story).....i get extremely good battery life, and i use the hell out of my phone....my only complaint would be it takes effort to get a good pic indoors.....im sure some work on the camera software via update can fix that.....you hear the people who are having problems on forums and it would seem they are a majority....but theyre is lot of us who have experienced none of the issues others keep talking about.

Your signature is ironic.

LOL. that was funny. i put that down when everyone was having a fit over the specs. i get it totally and want it but i dont want my desire to finally have a nexus phone to cloud my judgment. it seems though the phone is good enough but i dont think anyone will say it was a slamming success. not by sales just quality performance and features.

gmail or email?

it is a fact, do a search that the stock ICS is missing features that motoblur provides for the email app, not gmail.

im not losing sleep! i just want to make sure i get what i want so i am on a forum of nexus owners asking for opinions. thats common sense!!! but thanks.
