Just paid at 7-11 using Google wallet on my GN

You guys are saying to actually touch the phone on the reader....I been hovering it about an inch or so above. Hmm maybe this is why I been getting mixed results. Will try the touch method next time.
Thx

Yeah I have only used mine once and it worked flawlessly...I wouldn't so much as even call it a touch...more like a tap. Unlock screen tap the back to the reader, punch in my Pin, and re tap the reader again...receipt was printed before I even put my phone back in my pocket. Pretty slick and the girl behind the counter thought so too!:D

By the way the technology has been around forever! Somebody above posted about using it with a credit card, I had a little thing that hung on my key chain that did this at the gas station, just put it up to a location on the pump. This was at least 10 plus years ago (can't remember which stations).

That was the Speed Pass by Mobil. I had one. Strange thing is McDonald's was the only other company (outside of Mobil gas stations) that I can remember that would accept it.
Worked with any credit / debit card, but I don't remember there being a pin or anything that you had to put in for the device to work. Just wave the wand thing and start pumping gas. But it's been over 10 years since I last used one, so I could be wrong on the payment procedure.

New to the forum.. Had to share the excitement of my first google wallet transaction using my GN. Used it at bestbuy, tapped the reader and immediately brought up the pin pad, entered the pin and then asked to tap it again. It was instantaneous, as I was signing the cashier asked, "Wait, did you just wave your phone to pay?" He says to me, that's the coolest thing he's seen working there.
