Just play with iPhone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Me being an Engineer, this is pointless. If I put that much moment on any phone, I can get it to do that. You can see him shaking so you know he's using all his strength. Some people just think of stupid stuff to get views and people fall for it.

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Fingerprint scanning is a gimmick - I would be surprised if anybody bought the iphone for that feature.

Ths fingerprint scanner on the iphone is far from a gimmick. Have you ever used it? If you've never used it then you will never understand. I didn't say if you've used A finger print scanner. I want to know if you've used the one Apple has designed. It surpasses that swipe junk on the S5. I had the S5. I now have the iphone 6. I use scanner 90% of the time because it's quicker. It takes a split second to register. It takes me longer to type my 4-digit pin. Plus, I have around 5 different fingers saved so I'm not stuck using my thumb.

On plastic phones, they bend and it bounces back. On metal phones, they bend and stay that way. You know that as an engineer of course.

So I doubt people are making it up. But as "problems" go, this one is easy to solve.

I agree with you here. I don't know what that guy was trying to prove. The stories about phones bending in people's pockets, if true, is troubling.

Here he is doing the same thing to a Note 3. Same test...different result.

So yeah, it's not a thing that appears to happen to all large phones. Should we be applauding Samsung's awesome engineering? They make pretty durable phones apparently.

I now use it to authenticate with 1Password, which is hugely convenient. Plus it will soon be used for the payment system, which is going to be very convenient. It is hardly a gimmick. Like you, I cannot believe how fast and easy it is. My wife who is completely clueless with tech also uses it, and that says something. I feel better knowing her phone is secure behind that fingerprint authentication.

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Yeah, I have used it. And I think it is a total gimmick, you don't need a fingerprint scanner on a phone, you don't need one to make payments with a phone, and I invite you to return here in a year and call me an ***** if everybody decides fingerprints are the future of security_ because I can tell you they're not. They are a gimmick. iris scanning is the future, and unlike fingerprints your iris is unique. I posted up above about the flaw with fingerprint systems. They are at best a false feeling of security - and Apple knows this and is hardly the world authority or innovator on fingerprint recognition, which indicates that it is indeed a gimmick.

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

One other note - if your phone is stolen it is going to have your fingerprints all over it. And that's somehow secure? In what universe....

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Yes, I agree. So why are you telling people to ignore what YOU don't think is important, like the screen?

I'll give Apple credit for one thing, though. To my knowledge, no Android phone does this:

Looks like Apple's fetish to make things thinner, and thinner, and thinner has finally caught up with them.

Really? I guess your search is very limited to what you wish to see only

EVO LTE is what I just came from. That thing lived in my back pocket. I even sat on wooden benches, etc. Mine might have been magic though, as I dropped it many times on hard floors, parking lots--even face down onto iron weights--and never every had a screen crack.

It has scratched metal, dents in the metal on either side of screen from the drop onto dumbbell, eventually even chipped off part of the white enamel from a bad parking lot drop... And now my mom's using it.

Anyway, I now return you to your conversion in progress...

Couldn't agree more with you, it didn't actually made me upgrade my iphone 5 to the 5s but now that i have the 6 i can see how useful this is. I was the kind of person that disabled my phone's 4 digit pass because i wanted to just get into my phones app quickly, this made me had to choose between security and fluidity... now that i use the fingerprint scanner i dont have to worry about entering the 4 digit passcode anymore and i do have peace of mind nobody can get into my phone without my authorization. Those that say it is a just a gimmick or that it is useless haven't actually tried it enough to see how practical and convenient it is...

On a side note, i don't know how good or how bad fingerprint sensor in the S5 is, may give it a try next week with my friend's phone. Hope it's as good as it is on the Iphone, its a very cool feature to have regardless if you use android or IOS.

I don't ''need'' it, but its now a feature that i'm gonna look forward to have on my next phone...

Yea, every touch screen or smooth surface leaves oily fingerprints... how is this so threatening, is someone gonna make a cut out of my fingerprints and glue it to their own finger?

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

I had always been an iPhone user, but when I saw the new iPhone 6 in white, I literally thought it's just another Samsung device.....

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

I like the fingerprint scanner on my S5. I've never had much trouble with it. I unlock with both thumbs and one finger. With the 4.4.4 update it is faster and more accurate, though I would really like to see at least 4 fingers so I can do both thumbs and both index fingers (thumbs work best when holding it, fingers when flat on a table/desk). I would maybe prefer a non-swipe one like Apple's, but not sure if the added bezel would be worth it. Regardless the S5's works fine for me and I would love to see it used in more apps that use passwords, like Good for Enterprise, which is required for my work email.

Yeah, it's not perfect security, but neither is a PIN or pattern.

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Just played with IPhone 6 and 6 plus again at Apple store for 1 hours and I have to say that IPhone display is brighter than G3 but the design of the phone look outdated and the big bazel make the phone very hard to use...except brighter screen and little more fluid OS.. I think I still like my G3...

Yeah, and some people write their PIN code on the back of their ATM card. Which IMHO is about like having a fingerprint scanner on your most-likely-to-be-stolen-or-lost device, which will be covered with your fingerprints.

And yes, it's trivial to make a copy of somebody's fingerprints, and with 3D printing you don't even need to make a relief mold.

*** ALREADY HACKED SEE NEXT POST - THIS IS MY NINTH POST ****

And while today it may require some sophistication, within 6 months it will be trivial as 3D printing is improving by leaps and bounds. US banks are NOT going to adopt fingerprint scanning at ATMs *ever* because their analysis has already shown PIN codes to be MORE secure.

The future will be Iris Scanning coupled with a pin code, coupled with a duress pin code.

That is all.

Re: Just play with Iphone 6&6+ ..happy now..My G3 is better..

Macworld just compared the iPhone6 to the LG G3. Guess which they chose?

They said the LG G3, all things considered, is simply the best smartphone you can buy today, and handily beat out the iPhone 6.

But that's Macworld - they're heavily biased against apple, right?

Yes, fingerprint scanners have been hacked. I'm not disputing that. But to call it trivial compared to the 4-digit numeric PIN ATMs require is ridiculous.

Macworld UK.... Can't trust those Brits. ;) They mustn't have gotten the memo... I mean, Gizmodo certainly has, they've spend the entire week putting putting out one iPhone fluff piece after another.

Goes to show how razor thin the line is between all these phones.... reviews are all over the place and there isn't a consensus top pick.... basically says that, across the board, we have an incredible lineup of phones to choose from and anyone claiming clear superiority over another is full of crap. The iPhone 6 is a great phone, but it is also just one of many great phones available. Still satisfying to see Macworld, of all places, admit that the G3 is a better phone that meets or beats the iPhone is every quantifiable category.

It's one of the big reasons I did :P It should be WAY more convenient and safer. Plus, now that it can be integrated with 3rd party apps it will be even better.
