I haven't seen much worse. I look at the 4s and see a huge top and bottom bezel.. Okay, it's an old phone. I give it a pass. Then the 5 and 5s come out, still large bezel but i figured they were still working out the internal layout of the phone. Now the 6 is here and it's almost no improvement. I understand they want that big round button on the bottom for iPhone tradition and fingerprint scanning, but they could have cut the top bezel in half. And making the side bezels so thin even further highlights the large top and bottom!

True, they havent changed much. There thing is to go thinner and thinner. I guess like smashing a hamburger patty thinner but have the same amount of meat, it its gotta push outward (did that make sense? lol) and they gotta stuff everything at the top and bottom. You can see its so thin they can't really do anything with the camera but have a bezel protude to accomodate it

I hope that camera component limits the thickness at this point, because you can't compromise camera quality that people want now, and start stuffing in bigger batteries in there. I've always wished they not trimmed by millimeters one year and double stuff the battery.

The G2 spoiled me where I said I'd never go back to a phone that didnt last a day (day and a half with the G2). The G3 battery is not as good but gets through the day easy.

I was chuckling that the UC physicist didn't know about tapping the phone on, but then I considered the stories about Albert Einstein having issues doing mundane things like tying his shoes, and I thought maybe, just maybe, the iphone 6 is the right phone for them.

Maybe the mentally disabled & super-genius physicists are the ideal apple iphone customers at this point in the game. And anybody under 12 years of age too, I guess. I see a future market here for apple making phones with pacifiers, or giant bumpers for babies and toddlers to test their gums on. Their biometrics could also assist the elderly, all they need is a diaper check feature and they have both babies and octogenarians covered.

Sorry, after re-reading the incredibly insulting tone of his response, I couldn't resist taking a swing back.

After finding out about the two 3,850mah batteries with charger for $70 from aliexpress - batteries that don't require a different cover - I have little doubts myself. I am officially OFF the fence, and all in on my G3.

To Bembol... see one in person and hold it... looking at pics and vids not the same as feeling and holding it. feels and looks premium to me. Honestly I wasnt fan of the iPhone 5 build over the 4s. If you want comparisons to me... It kills the Samsung S5 in premium... I think the build quality is better than G3... G3 has a metal look but it's not metal and it doesnt compare to real metal. The G3 doesnt feel metal and not as tight as the iphone. People write about hearing the back panel creek on the G3. I think it's equal to if not better than HTC M8. And not sure what the beef is on the bezel... I've seen worse.

Eh... I like all types of phones. I think these are pretty nice.

I care more about how it functions and is features. More than how like how premium it feels.

I live the way the s5 feels in hand. And i could care less about a metal phone

The round button is practically a trademark of all their iPhones and iPads... not rectangular, not oval, not square... round. Has that familar and comfortable feel going from iPhone to iPhone or iPad or iPod. Doesn't bother me.

But it also serves a purpose for the fingerprint reader and I hear it's more accurate than the Samsung Galaxys... Walt Mossberg says when he tries it, it works like 50% of the time. And the reason is probably the design of the sensor from what i read the apples is just more elegant of a solution...

It uses a touch pad and captures more of the pad to make a match. It allows for 360 degree reading of the fingerprint so you can hold it one hand and your thumb can be read at angle... take out phone with one hand., thumb on pad, viola. Want to apple pay? take out phone one hand, thumb on phone, viola... paid.

The Samsung you swipe up and down and saves a number of fingerprint files on the phone. So you need two hands to swiped vertically because it cant read with finger swiping at angle of rotation. Time to pay?... Take phone out of pocket, one had hold phone, other hand swipe finger up and down... oops... up and down again... oops... up and down again. Ah forget it... Put phone back in pocket, pull out wallet, and give credit card and allow cashier to steal number and buy dinner later.

The finger print scanner on my s5 works 95%of the time

You don't use fingerprint scanner for waller. Use a pin that takes seconds to put in. I can have it opened just as fast on my s5 as it would with apple.

I can unlock my s5 with finger print the 1st try every time

Paranoid much? You don't NEED to use the fingerprint reader at all to use NFC to make a payment. A Pin works just fine. And somehow, in about 40 years of handing my credit card to cashiers I've never had the number stolen. And if it happens, my liability is..... zero. Fingerprint reader or no, the 6 is almost as tall as the GS5, which has a markedly larger screen. And the LG3, with a MUCH larger screen, is only 1/4" taller than the 6. The 6+, with the same size screen as the LG3, is half an inch taller than that phone.

I'm glad you enjoy your fingerprint reader, because you're paying a price for it.

I doubt people bought it for that either... but if anyone can make mobile pay work, it'll be apple with its apple pay and the scanning wont be a gimmick when everyone is using the phone to pay.

Just went back from my local AT&T..play with new iPhone 6 and have to say nothing better than my g3.. Iphone display is good but even 6+ 1080p is still far behind g3 display..almost same weight with g3..and very huge bezel on Iphone...overall happy now ...stay with my G3..

The only real downside to the G3 that I saw was LG's stupid skin...that phone is WAY laggier than it should be. Other than that it is awesome. Even with the lag I'd prefer it to an iPhone.

You made a logical blunder there - you have joined fingerprint scanning with using a phone to pay. That assumes you need to have one to do the other; I challenge that assertion...

Phones may indeed become a norm for payment in the future, with or without fingerprint scanners. Or boom box speakers. Or sparkly screensavers. Or any number of other gimmicks.

@jdhooghe: My experience of iPhones and iOS is zero. Do you find that they are more trouble free than Android? I'm just wondering as a relative newcomer to the world of smartphones, what the main differences are.

My best advice is for you to go try it out for yourself Every person(yes, even iPhone users despite what you hear on these forums) DO try out other phones. Each person uses the phone they enjoy most. With that said, in my experience I spent more time troubleshooting my Androids and putting custom roms on them to even get decent performance. My mom's Note and my GS4 when I had it lagged noticeably which irked the hell out of me. There was also battery draining issues like usual. My One was the smoothest Android I had but the battery issues(stuck processes, app drain, ect.) and the camera were terrible. I've played with my friend's Note 3 and it still lags despite having great specs. FOR ME these issues are no goes but my preferences are not others and should not be yours.

My best advice is to spend a couple hours with both phones at the phone store because you will spend a lot of money for at the most, a 2 year commitment. Do not choose off of a spec sheet, don't choose because someone on these forums told you Androids are best. Same thing for other platforms. Choose from your experience. Spend a lot of time on YouTube looking at each phone and each OS. Look on all the forums and see the issues everyone is having for all phones and decide, if that happens to you, are you prepared to deal with the repair/replacement model for that company.

As this is your first smartphone, this decision is especially difficult because it is very much overwhelming. Ask these fine folks and also the folks at the other mobile nations. Only listen to replies that give valid reasons for their claims, not "iPhone sucks, get Android" or vica versa. Listen to each strengths but more importantly their failures. When you ask someone if you can play with their phone, ask what issues they are having because they will probably focus on what is good.

EDIT: Oh yes, also, do not just focus on the screen or the features people yell and scream about. Ask about those features like audio and the little things that they don't yell and scream about because more often than not, you will be relying on those little things the most.

I have to give them a little credit...that display did not shatter or even crack when the phone was bent. Thats pretty impressive IMO.

I have no idea how this made it past QC though. Thats a pretty big (if easily fixable) design flaw for a company that prides itself on design.
