Keeping or Returning?

I unfortunately have to return the phone. Wanted so bad to love this phone. Coming from a OG Droid was awesome at first. I can deal with the sub par screen, I can't deal with the constant buzzing in the headphones. I listen to music all day at work. How can this happen on thee Verizon phone of the year. Its sad when this phone has some aspects inferior to a phone that is 2 year old. Lost a lot of respect for MOTO.

Returning. Upgrading from a DROID eris this phone is great in comparison . For $300 though I was expecting a lot more. The camera is barely better than my 3 year old eris and the static on the earphones is annoying. Both I could live with but with the nexus prime in sight and android 4.0...it almost feels dumb to hang onto this phone as it is my last new every two.

These are my sentiments exactly. The screen I can handle, but it's annoying. The high frequency noise from the 3.5mm jack was eliminated by using an inline attenuating cable, but I shouldn't have to do that.

I cannot use wiimote for my emulators, and that kind of sucks.

Plus, the camera isn't that great. I know it's just a phone, but it doesn't quite compare to the quality of camera that is in most smartphones now. The HD video did look really good though.

I am sending this back, and using my last NE2 for the Nexus also.

The Bionic is very fast, very handsome, and I haven't experienced any bugs apart from the earphone thing. I just don't feel like it's a worthy upgrade from my D1.

Oh well.

Quick question on VZW return policy...I bought it using my "early upgrade" or whatever its called...when I return the device, I get my upgrade back, right?

While I'm not totally impressed with the battery life, I'll be keeping this phone. It definitely won't be for a 2-year period, but it will hold me over until the 2nd generation LTE phones come out that are better when it comes to battery life and potentially smaller (I feel that a ~4 inch screen is ideal). After leaving Android for the iPhone and Windows Phone 7, I must say that I'm glad to be back.

Returned it.

1) The screen is noticeably inferior to my Incredible. When the same high quality photo is viewed side by side on the Incredible and Bionic there is absolutely no comparison. Even the Verizon rep admitted that there is a shocking difference. The "screen door" pentile effects were tolerable, but the poor display of colors was quite disappointing.

2) the high pitched whine/hum when outputting audio via the 3.5mm jack(headphones and aux input in car) was the deal-killer for me. my Incredible has no such issues at all.

bottom line: compared to my Incredible there is significant degradation in both display and audio quality.
To be disappointed with audio and display quality of a brand new $300 top of the line phone was just too much. No 4G in my area yet so my Incredible is still *quite* competitive. Actually, I appreciate my Incredible even more now that I see how well it holds its own against the newer phones.

I am going on 20 hours with the extended battery. Still have 30% left.
In getting the extended battery, did you have to get a different back? I bought the Otterbox case for my phone and don't want to have to get a different case if I get a bigger battery.

Pretty sure your current case wont work with extended battery. Does otter offer one for extended battery? guessing that will be hard to find..

Not buying it in the first place. Bad screen, bezel too big, audio interference issue. 3 strikes.

The TBolt is 1 cent on Amazon.

I'm in the same boat as you. But I am waiting as long as I can for Motorola to respond officially to the headphone noise complaint. I will take it back on day 12 or 13. If they decide to play dumb about the problem, they can have their phone back.

I'm on the fence honestly about returning it. My issues are the screen and the Netflix audio problem. I have a feeling the Netflix audio issue will be resolved, but the screen thing bugs me to no end. The screen on my original Droid 1 looked better (to me). I never saw a pixel, ever. On the Bionic, I see pixels all the time, and the increased pixelation on swiping or scrolling or any other screen movement really stands out. I love the phone otherwise, and hate the idea of downgrading to a slower phone just to get a "better" screen.

I couldn't agree more, well put. A real shame. I know what u mean, I too coming from Droid original and it is so nice to have the speed of the Bionic but all new phones even lesser priced are this fast but don't have the irritating headphone noise, can produce yellows, keep their 3g connection (is the hybrid hprd network the problem here), and higher end models have cameras all that focus faster and most have better quality sensors as well (especially for indoor pics) .

Maybe the data connectivity, audio, even color issues can be corrected but I can't chance going past the trial period to find out the issues aren't addressed now that phone will have to last two years.

Really disappointed as I'm not worried about better phones like the Prime and Vigor possibly being released soon, I just want a phone without issues, the Bionic's specs and few shortcomings I can live with but not the major defects. Really don't want to go back to the older phone while waiting after returning the Bionic, so I may see if the Photon has these issues, it is only $99, or later this week the $99 epic touch, hate hassle switching carriers but those are nice phones (epic touch may be great) at attractive prices.

For the premium I paid for the bionic, I can't deal with the few major issues for two years, even if it was $99!

Here is hoping Motorola fixes the issues within a few days, ha

Walked into the store, played with it but passed. Its too late and the device is buggy. Glad I didn't buy it.

3 up, 3 down.

I had 3 friends buy the Bionic on opening day all 3 have returned for one reason or another. I only got to play with one of them for about an hour or so but that was enough. The screen is terrible compared to my Charge (I know some don't care but that would be hard for me to go to) and in that hour the battery drained about 20% (granted I was hitting it hard but 20%?).

it was a bit snappier than my Charge (as of right now) but I am not really sure that it was because of the cores or the Gingerbread.

Good luck all (sincerely) I hope the phone will live up to your expectations

Still keeping mine...the only issue is the headphones and my pair is pretty wrecked, so I will just replace them.

I'm keeping mine. Coming from an enV3 to the bionic is awesome. Every phone is going to have issues. I can deal with the issues on the bionic. I can see most of them being fixed with an update.

Keeping mine. Not 100% satisfied but upgrading from a BB Curve its a HUGE improvement and change.

The battery life does seem to drain quickly, although from everything I have been reading on 4G LTE devices I expected that. Would still like to see it last a bit longer with moderate/light usage. I find myself turning off 4G most of the day to conserve battery.

The camera is not the greatest, the focus delay is whats most annoying about it. Once you get it to focus the picture quality isnt bad....just a pain to actually get it focus half the time, atleast with my shaky hands.

The pentile screen really doesnt bother me at all, but I can see how it could be a deal breaker for others. But with the screen you know what you were getting when you bought it......not sure why you purchased the phone to begin with if you dont like the pentile display.

all in all I am very satisfied with the phone, its not perfect but what phone is? Its super fast and does everything I want it to.

Good thing is my wife is in love with this phone, she is due for an upgrade in early October. Maybe ill just pass my Bionic off to her depending on whats out. ;)

98% sure ill keep despite:
Camera inferior to storm 2
Audio whine (tamed by my headphone level control
)
