[KERNEL][GB] GingerKernel v08.1 (OC) DOUBLE-TAPPING BUG FIXED!!!

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v01

Thank you! I think I might try it. Right now I'm using the BACKside ROM and I'm really happy with it, but this kernel has me curious!

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v01

Tried Drew's kernel. The phone was unresponsive when trying to wake it from sleep. That was a big turnoff to me, so I went back to my last backup. I think I will wait for JerryScript's new build.

Had the same issue plus my setcpu app was Max at 122mhz and minimum was 600mhz! Really weird.

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v01

It is all very confusing when discussing in a forum because it isn't very clear which method is being used to find your location.

Indeed, which is why it's helpful to use Google Maps which will display the precision of the location information (both with the circle and if you tap on your location). I don't know how Drew has configured the GPS stuff, but with my Optimus V I can get a GPS fix good to 6000m in about 5 seconds and 8-20m in about twenty seconds inside my house (even at a claimed accuracy of 6000m it's more like 20m off... tops) .

AGPS is great because it'll give the GPS unit a head start, but it does need to be configured (CM7 comes with lousy defaults). As it stands, I'm pretty satisfied with GPS on a .32 kernel... using the open source libraries probably put the phone on par with the Triumph. Now? If only we had that processor… FWIW I'm not using cell tower triangulation or WiFi as both are disabled. Outside, in some areas, it takes a bit longer because of the overhead wiring and tall buildings... but usually I'll get something reasonably accurate and precise in less than minute. In fact I've found using the "network" triangulation often throws off my location by up to half a mile until it decides to start looking at GPS info.

There's a lot of room for tweaking things, and I suspect that some of the AGPS stuff is misconfigured on the Optimus S builds. If Drew is using the Cyanogen GPS libraries, there are definitely bugs in the AMSS 5k code.

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v01

screen not responsive from wake

:(

Same here. The screen works fine at boot, but on wake from idle, it is just a black screen. My phone has the first generation screen, if that helps at all. Thanks for all you do for our phones, Drew!

It's possible that this is caused by still having to use the Froyo binary blobs with a Gingerbread ROM and kernel. I have indeed noticed this but haven't really had a ton of time to look into it.

That's what I figured it was too. But why is the Max setting lower than the min setting?

I figured the black screen was from me trying to use the colin-ph battery tweak due to this kernel not supporting OC yet...not sure cause i switched back to Redux as soon as i found out.

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v01

Looking forward for a CM7 kernel with OC and snappy GPS

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v02 (OC Enabled!)

[INFO]GingerKernel v02 Release:

I finally managed to get over-clocking working in GingerKernel! Currently it only works through SetCPU or similar apps (not the CM7 CPU settings yet), but it is fully working. The screen hang bug is still not fixed, so don't flash this if you don't know what you're doing.[/INFO]

Thank you so much for working on this. Were you able to get the binary blobs yet?

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v02 (OC Enabled!)

But whhyy that sucks they need to hurry up an get thos out it will be so helpful for all of us

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v02 (OC Enabled!)

Just tried v02. It was hanging at the red LG boot logo at first. When I removed the battery and forced reboot, it went into an endless boot loop. I was not going beyond the red LG logo. This an Optimus V flashed with latest IHO, default IHO kernel. I have reflashed the IHO ROM to recover. I will retry V03 if you don't have any suggestions right now. Thanks again.

You're using an Optimus S kernel on the Optimus V. Of course there will be issues. LG has not even released Gingerbread source for the Optimus V yet.

I had the same issue! I'm running your latest ex version.

Xionia kernel runs just fine. I would expect it to run without much problem when it is ready (key swap aside).

Hmm, well this is strange. Right after I compiled the kernel I flashed it and everything was working fine, minus the screen hang issue. Flashed back to XioniaRedux for a while.

Since getting these reports, I re-flashed GingerKernel and lo and behold got a boot-loop.

Yucky. I'm not 100% sure if this is caused by not having the official Gingerbread proprietary files, but I'm looking into it.

Please remember this is a premature kernel, so be expecting issues like this until we get an official Gingerbread release.

Re: [KERNEL][CM7] GingerKernel v02 (OC Enabled!)

I've got something functional that hasn't boot-looped on me yet. Gonna test things over the next 30 minutes or so, will release when done.
