Well that lasted long. I said I wasn't going to root, and 3 days later here I am. I really am digging Sense, so I am deciding to debloat that myself through Titanium and I was also wondering, are there any kernels out there compatible for the stock ROM? Preferably, I'd like one to help battery life (which is a HUGE upgrade over my old D1), but any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks so much!

Try the Virtuous Custom Kernel (v3) - it's in ROM manager or you can download it from the Virtuous site - link in the ROM's and Mods HQ2 Sticky. It's a stock Sense kernel with battery tweaks. Ran smooth when I used it.

There are also a number of nice kernels Sense Froyo Kernels available. Try them and settle on the one you like. Just be sure you Nandroid before experimenting!!!

Yeah what Pville said.....but dude just get it over with and put CyanogenMod on there and never look back! You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Hahaha thanks for everything guys. I ended up installing the Virtuous kernel, wel'll see how it goes. I'm thinking about CM7, had it on my D1. replaced it later due to memory issues. I think I will spend some time with my debloated stock ROM for a while, really digging Sense after being on stock Gingerbread with SS on my D1. Loving the Incredible, though. Really is as the name says!

Glad your enjoying your stay here on the Incredible team, hopefully we'll see you over in the CM7 nightlies thread soon :)

Okay, so I actually noticed a decrease in battery life with the Virtuous kernel, so I was trading and I installed Inkredikernel, overclocked to 1.13 ghz, and WOW! He did something with the GPU there and man its crazy, I was getting ~14.6 fps with the stock and virtuous kernel, but with this j got 20.6 (!!!) Man this is awesome. I can't vouch for battery life yet seeing as I just flashed it, but considering the low clock speeds with a locked screen and only a slight overclocked, and plus some profile tweakings, I expect it to be not much, if any, worse than before. Heck, may even be better considering how amazing everything about this kernel is! I recommend wholeheartedly this kernel, check it out!!!

This is awesome, hope it holds up

Ha, so do I! Everything seems fine though, battery is fine so far, too.

Okay, you won. Just installed CM7 stable. Much progress compared to when I was running it on my OG Droid!

It definitely helps that the hardware is much more capable of running Gingerbread as well! Glad you are enjoying.

So, for dumb newb reason, didn't even notice there was a separate area for rooted questions. I'm not going to leave stock Sense any time soon, so does anyone know of any good kernels if I am just going to root my phone and not instal a ROM?
