I've had the phone for 5 days. I love the phone and all but this bug is just really annoying.

I have tried all of the suggested fixes that i could find such as:
- Clearing keyboard cache and data
- Changing keyboards (I get the same issue with GBoard as well as Swiftkey)
- Played around with GBoard and Swiftkey settings such as:
+ Turning off predictions
+ Turning off pattern reports.
+ etc...
- Factory Reset (I did this twice)

My OS and apps are also all up to date. I'm currently on the phone with customer service and so far they're suggesting that I do all the things I've already tried. I will post an update if I get it fixed.

Any Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL users experiencing this issue too?

Are you using Facebook messenger? That app crashes all the time on Android and kills keyboard mid sentence. I deleted it off my phone along with my Facebook account haha

Cam you explain your issue in a bit more detail... What do you mean by "disappear?" how can you reproduce the issue?

I feel so dumb. I managed to get the phone replaced for free after talking to a Google representative and reproducing the issue in a screen capture demonstration. We both couldn't figure it out and I thought for certain that I wasn't hitting the back button. After having this issue occur on the new phone I knew something was up.

I guess it wasn't my thumb that was hitting the back button. It was the part of my palm directly underneath my left thumb that was hitting it when i would reach for a key across the screen. I really liked the big keyboard but I guess I'll have to use a small one to prevent this from happening more often. I'm really embarrassed but feel obligated to give an update on this. Thanks for the responses, guys.
