kies. problem?

Kies. it will say its connected to the comp from the phone but Kies just shows "connecting to device plz wait" well iv waited and it never does connect, tried uninstalling and reinstalling.. read the forms on this subject and came up blank. all i can think of is that its because its rooted maybe? but it still has stock software, no custom roms, running 2.1 update 1 on win7x32.. I'm flat stumped. now i know how to transfer files with mass storage and its not a problem but i would really like to try Kies out.

I have never tried kies, so ill just ask a common question. have you tried enabling or disabling USB debugging mode?

yes, have tried that, doesn't find it in debugging mode at all sadly

do you know if all the ADB drivers installed properly, see if you have any Exclaimation points in your device manager with your device connected

I think there was a problem with connections to the phone if you weren't using the stock TWlauncher?

If you have launcher pro, or ADW, try disabling that and try again,

nope, not mine, just keeeeps looking even though the phone its self seems to be very convinced it already worked. most frustrating.

Yes Kies full version doesn't work with Captivate. Mini Kies does, but search for an older version of the full version and don't let it update. Start kies plug USB cable into phone. Make sure your USB cable is plugged into a direct port to you motherboard. Then maybe it will recognize the phone.
The problem is it might work once or twice and then it stops working. All I do is plug the phone in, USB debug on, mass storage mode. Mount when it asks and do what I have to transfer or backup into my documents in a folder I made.
Also try an app called my phone explorer client and use titanium backup. Also look in the disgusted thread about 2nd or 3rd page.
