Amazon has begun pushing out firmware update 6.2.2 today. From the changes I have seen so far, it includes: a handful of small performance tweaks, bugs fixes and, most notably, adds a full-screen mode to the device?s Silk browser.

Here is a write-up I did on the new update and the changes I have seen. It also includes the download link and a video I created showing people who to do a manual install using either a micro-usb cord or a free file management app.

Hopefully this is helpful!

To manually update, here's the link to the .bin file, direct from Amazon. After downloading, use a file utility to move it to the Kindle Update folder. Go into the Menu>More>Device and punch the Update My Kindle button. Done!

Dana,

Thanks for the update on the update lol.

I am glad they added the full screen to the browser.

The touch display seems a bit snappier as well.

Thanks again!

I have to disagree with the touchscreen being snappier. I have found myself having to press down on the screen multiple times after the update in order to get a letter to register for what I was typing.
