My Kindle Fire 1st Gen is rooted, but still has stock ROM. I've installed the latest drivers using the Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.6.

But now I can't access the kindle through a USB connected to my PC. So I can't copy a new ROM to the SD card.

When connected to my PC through USB cable, Device Manager shows it as Android ADB Interface - not Kindle. So the computer recognizes it, but I just can't access the SD card. I've also tried the USB storage option under TWRP - still no good.

I've searched and read for hours now and can't find a solution for this. Any ideas?
Thanks,

It was a driver problem on my computer, because it would mount successfully on another computer. Fixed now. Thanks.

It mounted successfully on another computer, so I used that computer to restore the Kindle to factory. After that, the original computer recognized it again, and I was able to go forward normally.
