My 2012 didn't get it and I checked before I came to work. Hopefully when I get off in the morning it will be ready to go and I can update while I'm getting my coffee.

I am interested to see if there is any further improvement of the touchscreen issues. The only one I have is the occasional sticky key (a few times per day).

Will this be automatically updated on to my N7 2013 or do I have to download it and install it myself?

And what's the point of it, just fancy new colors, or will it actually something, improve the sometimes balky touchscreen, and the only occasionally functioning GPS?

Right. But shouldn't checking for updates manually tell me there is an update available?

No, they are pushed through a staged rollout to be available to select set of devices at a time. It could be geographical based, but most likely based on serial number.

It will be pushed automatically to you; you will see a notification to install and it will take 5 minutes or so.

The GPS and touchscreen issues were already fixed several months ago through a firmware update, so you should have already gotten those updates. If you are still encountering issues, you are dealing with a hardware issue.

However, keep in mind that the GPS will take a while to get a lock if you are not connected to a WiFi network. It isn't going to get a lock nearly as fast as a phone.

Nexus 7 (2012, 2013) and Nexus 10 Android 4.4 KitKat updates roll out starting today, Nexus 4 and cellular Nexus 7 “soon”

If you read this, google hinted that the tablets wouldn't get the transparent bars as seen in the picture in this article.

Hi can you explain what is meant by this? I've seen this before and they always show the same picture. Are they talking about the google search bar at the top? because on my 2013 nexus 7 running 4.3, that bar is most certainly transparent. I can't tell from that picture what else they could posibly be talking about.

EDIT: Nevermind I see it now - on the Nexus 5 the wallpaper seemingly extends up into the notification bar at the top and down into the navigation bar at the bottom. yeah my nexus 7 definately isn't doing this. would be cool though. - thanks!

Google rolls the updates out gradually so servers don't get overloaded, the method by which they decide who gets the update first is some sort of randomized black magic that is never the same. If you press the "check for updates" button and it says you're up to date, it just means you haven't won the lottery yet but you will eventually. I've been one of the first to get an update before and other times I've gotten updates a few days after everyone else has gotten them. Sometimes clearing data from the "google services framework" app will cause the update to show up sooner but I've heard mixed results using this method.

No, the black notifications bar at the top and the navigation bar at the bottom.

Anyone that has sideloaded KitKat, are you still getting the keyboard pop up when using the GE Launcher?
