Kit Kat is starting to roll out today!

Right. But shouldn't checking for updates manually tell me there is an update available?

Clear your services framework.... Settings/Apps/(Slide over to all)/Google Services Frameworks/Clear Data
Then check for update if its available you'll see it, If its not you'll have to wait.

They roll it out slow in case they start bricking devices.

Is there anything that I have to do to prepare for the kit Kat ota update? Do I need to force close nova launcher? Factory reset? I have the nexus 7 (razor) WiFi and I no update yet when everyone else seems to be getting it, hangouts hasn't even updated yet...getting frustrated

Everyone is getting it because we have side loaded it ourselves. If you are comfortable doing that then you can see the post on the main page as to how. If not then you just have to wait for Google to push it out to your device. Could be in 10 minutes, could be in two days. You won't ever know until you get the notification for it.,

I was going to wait for the ota. Here's how that worked out for me:

I couldn't wait either so I side loaded as well. Pain in the *** getting the drivers to install but otherwise no issues.

Using Nova launcher. -

Oddly two of my neighbors and a colleague both received Kit Kat already, but I am still without it, I really wish I understood the algorithm that Google uses to push out their OTAs.

Regardless, I have sideloaded updates in the past, but with Driver issues that I always seem to encounter and a lack of time at the moment I am just going wait it out.

I am sort of happy (though I realize most are not thrilled) that Google did not include the "GEL" launcher as I hate it on the Nexus 5. I am a bit OCD with organization and I have my tablet and phone setup in a certain way. With Google Now (which I have turned off) being the left screen, I have had to move my left screen two to the right which just annoys me and while I am sure that I will get used to it, I can still enjoy my setup on the Nexus 7 (at least for now).

I still don't have the Hangouts update and I purchased this tablet the first day it was released.

I am having the same problem - one of my coworkers who has the 7 as well already got the update and I havent yet. I like the overall feel of Kit Kat on my Nexus 5 so I am very anxious to get it for the Nexus.... hopefully it is soon!
Yup, just sit tight. Good things come to those who wait :)

How is everyone enjoying the update (for those that got it)?

Hey when you guys got the OTA update did anyone loose any user data?? Does this update reformat the n7??

It should not affect your data, apps, etc.

Hi...being new to a Nexus device (N7 wifi 2013) to get KitKat 4.4 on my N7 do I just wait for OTA or do I connect to my computer (MacBook Pro) to get it started? I prefer not to sideload. Thanks

Just wait for the ota. No reason to rush software bugs.
