hello all just my 2cents on some of the battery issues people are having, as far as cell standby eating up battery it looks like most people have cell standby at the top of the list. It is only a problem if you go into the standby icon and see that you have time without service... I got scared for like 2 min the other day when everyone was freaking out about this. I was off charger for 21 hours and battery was at 70%!!! had some voice calls text messages and emails and bluetooth on for a while. Cell standby was top of the list but never was without service.

Some one asked for the wifi tether link a few days ago but I have not been on in a while so here it is.

Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code

edit: i guess ill say I am not responsible for the wifi tether software in any way, just providing a link

Ah yes, that was me - thanks for the link, but I had already found it after digging around google a bit. works great. as far as the standby thing - i was just about to post a question on that. when you say icon are you referring to an icon not listed in the 'battery use' section?

edit: nevermind - read up on the cell standby issue, guess i'm ok then. can't wait for the apps2sd tho!!

out of curiosity why did Koush use ERE25 instead of ESE53. is there a specific reason or what the main setup developed before 53 was available?

His rom is neither ERE25 or ESE53. He uses the build name ERE25 so that the market thinks its an official VZW build.

He also uses the ESE53 drivers which is the reason for the stability of the ROM.

Actually, the market checks the fingerprint and sdk version, not the build name.

I think that was probably an oversight on his part.

It used to be ere25 and people had issues with the market. He then changed it to ERE25 and all was good. I have been following his work from day one. I forget when he made the change but it was before 1.0.1 (probably one of the beta releases, maybe beta 6).
I am looking for that post were he stated such.

Be as it may, compare the build.prop from then and now. I bet you see more changes than just a build name.

Here is what the market looks for:

ro.build.version.sdk=7 for 2.1, or ro.build.version.sdk=6 for 2.0.1.

It also looks for the fingerprint:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.0.1/ESD56/20996:user/release-keys for 2.0.1. We do not know what the official Droid fingerprint for 2.1 is for the market, but the above can be added to the build.prop to fix market issues.

What you see in about phone is this:
ro.build.display.id. It is merely cosmetic for info about the phone, and is not looked at by the market.

If you like I can post the build.prop from ERE25 and 5.0.4.2 and show you differences?

He changed it in beta 3
Here's a changelog from Cyanogen and me:

* Build opencore hardware decoder/encoder binaries from source.
* Fixed Launcher2 FC on start
* Fixed usb-tether-over-wifi
* Disabled menu-to-unlock to match the shipping version
* Readded the wireless regulatory domain setting, not sure why this was removed by Google
* Enabled support for PPTP while tethering
* Use ERE27 in build fingerprint so protected apps work.
* Launcher fix from ChainsDD (thanks!)
* Readded VisualizationWallpapers
* Update your gapps to the ERE36B-2 version to fix NetworkLocation and VoiceSearch.
* Fixed wifi disable bug
* New boot animation by Prash
* Merged ERE36B changes
* Updated fonts with additional glyphs (from CM-4.2)
* Updated Phone mod from Cytown
* Various minor bugfixes
* "Stable" (no pony for you, though)

It was so long ago, I'm surprised I remembered.
Seems you are right though it is the fingerprint.

Ok, I upgraded to the Koush Rom yesterday and im LOVING IT. And now they say that the OTA 2.1 upgrade from Verizon is supp to drop tomorrow.

So.....in you guy's opinion, are you going to keep the Koush
Rom or go back to stock to take the OTA 2.1 upgrade?

ESE53 is not worth downgrading to.
It has absolutely nothing to offer, that Koush's rom does not.
That weak Droid live wallpaper does not count.:rolleyes:

staying with koush he has the only rom I can run for more than two days but this rom is much better than what will be released its way to stable. Not bad with jit enabled 2 soft reboots in a day. I've tried others were I was pulling the battery becouse of lockups 2-3 times an hour. Just hope he can get the email and a few of the fixes from the official release

hopefully he gets it soon the airplane mode hack isn't working anymore can't hold signal

I've noticed my 3g service is rather spot as of recently. i don't use pandora a lot but i noticed the past few days it skips where before it had no issues.

I believe the first build was based on r1. This 5.0.1,2,3 are all based on r2.
Koush thinks the new radio might fix the issues we are having.

I'm hoping it does. This standby battery issues are killing me :(

Yes, killing ME! :P

Its only an issue if your loosing signal. Other than that its just a reporting glitch

Doubt the radio update will help. I had/have the same problem on his ROM with the radio update flashed.

Have you guys tried the new maps live wallpaper with this rom its rather nice
I know its an app but a nice one to have seeing were have 2.1 update your Google maps to get it
