(TMob S3 only) After 3 weeks of working on why my watch would not connect through voice I finally wrote the TMobile president. His representative called me back within 2 days and explain the following:

Apparently there is a lack of coverage for a specific voice-over LTG line that the S3 uses in various areas of the United States. Without that coverage the phone through the watch will not work. Unfortunately I live in one of those areas. He is hoping the new Tizen update will correct the problem by allowing the watch to work with different, lower level systems or that TMobile can upgrade their systems faster but he just doesn't know. There are areas nearby that do support it - just not where I live. Of course.

This is misleading marketing by someone in T-Mobile but it is what it is. They are allowing me to kept the watch for awhile to see if the TIizen OS update has an effect then they will refund full price. That's fair.

Thought I'd let everyone know.

Wow, that makes sense. I used to have a t-mobile gear S3 and I had that problem at home, but never at work. I guess that's why. I sold my watch though when Verizon came out with their version because that's my primary carrier. Don't have the problem anymore. T-mobile sucks where I live though.

Unfortunately I've been with TMob since they were Voicestream and, except for this, had pretty good service. Disappointed but not enough to leave.

UPDATE 15 Oct - if I ran the watch as truly stand alone it would work. By using DIGITS it only uses 3G, which my area does not have. That would mean 2 numbers, 2 calendars, 2 contacts, etc. I'll wait.

I'm not on T-Mobile, so I may be slightly mistaken, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Running in standalone doesn't mean duplicate everything, only a second phone number. When the watch is synced be with the phone, contacts and calendar will be downloaded to the watch. Furthermore, The watch can still be connected to your phone via BT, so calls and messages will be passed through. From my understanding, using Digits isn't necessary.

Not how it was explained to me. Digits essentially makes the watch an extension of the cell. It uses the cell number for calls, etc. When its in standalone its another number entirely.

My watch works! And it had nothing to do with what I previously posted from TMob!

It just started (or so it seemed) awhile back and I got calls, Text, and email with no issues. Today I learned that Debugging MUST be turned on for it to work properly using TMobile Digits. I had installed a watch face just before it started working and had inadvertently left Debugging on after that process. Noticed it today and turned it off - BAM! - no more calls. Turned it back on and it worked again. So... if you are using an S3 LTE and its not connecting check to see if Debugging is ON!

Just a heads up...
