Launcher Non Responsive = Bad MicroSD Card?

I have a 32gb Samsung MicroSD card I bought in late 2012 and have carried with me through phone upgrades and formatted it every new phone. Recently with my Note 4 I have been getting a lot of times where the launcher says it's unresponsive and gives me the option to close the app or wait. This is super annoying b/c you wanting to switch apps or start a new app and my phone does nothing I basically just have to give it time to think it out and wait. I have been using Nova Launcher Prime and thought let's switch it up and see if that helps. So I started using Action Launcher Pro. Early stages were good but after a few hours it might be worse than Nova. Next test was to take the SD card out and initially I thought this was it but It still happens. Less so but still happens.

I put the SD card in a card reader and did a CHKdsk and found nothing. I also wiped the cache partition on the phone and had no improved results.

So is it a bad card? Something else? Before I format the phone any ideas?

Why would you blame the SD card if it still happens with two different launchers without even having the SD in the phone? More than likely its an app causing the issue and perhaps that app has something to do with files that may be on the SD, or an app may simply be pinging the SD to check for something.

I remember reading about a similar issue and I think the culprit was the Google Now widget. Do you have it in your home screen? If so, remove it temporarily and see if it makes a difference. I'll try to find where I saw this problem reported before.

Could be a compounding of issues. It seemed to get better when the card was out.

I do have the Google Now Widget on my front page. I removed it and phone seems better. Tomorrow will tell. Too bad if thats it as I love the widget to keep me upto date on tons of stuff.

And doing that, it chews into the RAM slowing everything down

I have a similar issue, but it's definitely not Google Now related because I don't use it or any of its widgets. So here's what happens:

I'll be in an app...any app...and I'll very randomly get the pop up that says Nova Launcher isn't responding and am given the option to close or wait. Doesn't seem to matter which I choose, because I have the same problem once I exit the app that I'm using. I go back to my home screen and everything works just fine except for my notification window.

When I try to pull it down I get a message saying that I need to enable it in Accessibility Services. 1457021556807.jpg

But when I get in there, that option is already turned on. 1457022027057.jpg

The only fix I've found so far is just to restart my phone. This isn't a common occurance...happens like once every 2 or 3 months, but it's still annoying as funk.

I'm guessing it's just a glitch or hiccup that happens every now and then, but not an actual issue. Of course, if anyone knows of a fix to make it stop, I'm not gonna complain.

I would see that exact same thing with Nova.
