Is there any disadvantages to using launcher pro over Touchwiz or stock android?

Does it slow down the system or suck more battery life?

Only drawback I've noticed is that you don't have access to samsung widgets. Not a big deal for me as I didn't use them anyway. Just make sure if you go with Launcher pro that you clear all your home screens with TW & Stock launcher so you don't have widgets draining battery for no reason. I recommend LP any day over TW.

Some reviews claim its a drain on battery? is this true with your experience?

i get alot of lag with some things.. for example adding apps to the home screens. the phone will take up to 30 seconds between menu's sometimes

I have absolutely no lag, slowdown or other negatives since I've switched to LP....NONE.

Instead of long pressing the home screen to place an app as a shortcut...just long press the app from the app tray and it will drag to the homescreen...thus no lag. Touchwiz is great and gets better by the day with all their updates. Since samsung nerfed the epic os..launcher pro returns lots of the missing benefits such as customizable dock and deleting of home pages . Plus if u like sense widgets LPs are similar...and imho:better!

I think LauncherPro runs quicker than Touchwiz did. I haven't noticed any differences in battery usage.

Haven't noticed any battery issues with LP over TW, but lovvve the customizable dock (and you can set up to 3!)

okay but why? I don't see the need. What will LP do for me that will improve my everyday life?

I tried LauncherPro for a couple days. Uninstalled. Downloaded ADWLauncher last night and loving it. Way better than LP in my opinion.

I found ADW taxed the hardware more than LP IMHO- but that was back when I was on EVO with 2.1... My pal has an Evo with 2.2 and he too mentioned ADW lagged vs. Sense- I can't get him to try LP to make an informed comparison.

Personally, I think its great we have these CHOICES. Iphone- you have 1 interface, and that's it. I like it that LP and ADW are seeing the successful options of TouchWiz and Sense and are adding them to their launchers- (custom home buttons- removal of home pages or adding additional ones) now with Launcher Pro adding sense inspired widgets, I've found the phones even easier to use: Someone complained about the Epic calendar- but with the LP calendar widget- I can add a new event easily, and within the google calendar vs. the phone- this may be a work around- but it works great - the scrollable LP calendar widget is faster than the stock calendar! This fixed a major gripe I had with the phone.

Does ADW have some helpful widgets? Let us know!

For me, it's the 3d app drawer and customizable dock apps. Much nicer widgets in my opinion (messages, calendar, contacts).

Improve your everyday.. well probably not. However it does allow you to really explore Androids capabilities.

It makes for Great eye candy when showing off your Android phone to iPhone fanboys and WebOs die hards

After some more playing around, I think you are right about the lag. For the most part it ran great, but whenever I tilt the phone to landscape there's some significant time where it freezes before changing the screen orientation. It's almost enough to be a deal breaker, at least for me. It's too bad because I love everything else about ADW. Tons of easily applied themes to make for some nice eyecandy. A lot more customization options, one big one (for me at least) being that you can choose horizontal galaxy s style scroll in the app drawer like TW. ADW lacks built in widgets however. I haven't even tried the LP widgets because I'm not committed enough to it to fork out the dough for the paid version.

My biggest beef with LP right now is the scrolling. I almost get a headache watching the apps spin down, even on the 2D drawer. I feel like I'm on the Price is Right spinning the bonus wheel hoping to land on the right app. TW is actually superior IMO in this department in that when you scroll apps it does it in full pages similar to flipping home screens rather than one big list. I wish there were a way to combine bits and pieces of all three.
