i wiped factory data.. and then started over with

20.) Select "install zip from SD card"
21.) Select "choose zip from SD card"
22.) Scroll down to the D30 zip file and click the power button. Then confirm that you really want to apply.

and it's telling me installation aborted.....

okay... so i don't see it green in the recovery mode.... i see blue... and MANUAL MODE.... what'd i do wrong???

What happens when you select apply update.zip in blue recovery? That should take you to green if you flashed it properly.

Renaming the dl30.zip to update.zip will probably fail because that's only for official signed updates.

can i rename the dl30.zip to update.zip and then apply sdcard:update.zip?
If you want the new green cwm here is the link

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11670464/new_cwm.zip

save this to the same place you saved the dl30.zip and flash them both one right after the other during the same recovery session. That's how I did it and have had no problems since. I have flashed two versions of Adrynalyne's super clean and the accompanying patches flawlessly through the new green cwm.

Install THIS VERSION of CWM in Odin.

Place THIS FILE on your SD card.

After that. Boot into recovery mode (blue) and select apply update.zip. It will take you to the old green. Install the new cwm.zip. Then, go to the advanced menu in CWM and select reboot recovery. Apply update.zip again. You'll be in the new green CWM. Install DL30.zip from there.

Thanks. That sounds like a better method than I suggested (installing the new cwm and DL30 in the same recovery session)

Yeah. If you don't reboot recovery and go back into CWM again you're still in the old one.

i'm about to eat a hamsammich!!! thanks ham!!! my phone is now froyo'd!! albeit, i gotta go and reinstall everything... but that's for tomorrow.. now i sleeep!!!! thanks again everyone!!!!

Enjoy your new froyo goodness. Hope you had a Titanium Backup of everything. If not, you just learned your lesson. :p

Anyone else getting random phone vibrations? Lol.

Like 1 vibrate, then 3 more a few seconds later? That's the force close notification now.

What if I flashed Adrynalyne's super clean which has the new green cwm included? Just to be safe I followed your method, installed the new cwm, rebooted recovery, installed super clean and the accompanying patches. I figured it couldn't hurt and everything seems to be running fine

It's an app you can get from the market. Backs up all your apps and data you choose so you don't have to get everything individually like you're about to. The paid one is a little faster and doesn't need you to confirm reinstalling your apps individually like the free one does. The free one is still better than not at all though.

When are you getting this/what setup are you coming from?

and take heed of the lesson I learned if you don't want to restore all your apps one at a time through titanium and buy titanium pro. you still have to download the free version then buy the pro. you will only see the free version in your app drawer. the pro version will restore all your apps at once for you instead of one at a time where you have to keep hitting the install button for each app.
