I can't find the mobile.apk. That's what it used to be called, but no matter where I look I can't find it. Clearly it's somewhere.

The gallery seems smooth and wicked fast.

Good find on the battery sound. Maybe I can find the annoying Samsung KB key click sound.

Its located in the system/media/audio file. I even moved my ringtones and notifications to the sd card. But they are all labeled so it's ready to find.

8.) Remove battery from phone.
9.) Launch ODIN on PC.
10.) Plug USB cable into phone.
11.) Press and hold the volume-down key.
12.) Plug your Fascinate into the computer via USB cable.

can someone help me please? >< im at this part right now and when i hold down the volume down key nothing happens. Its my first time doing stuff like this. my battery is removed from the phone and phone is connected thru usb + my odins opened. Help please! thank you!!

Try flipping steps 12 and 11. Try plugging the phone into your USB port (with the battery removed) and then holding down the volume-down key.

thank you! i got it to work by changing the usb port.

but another problem.

After installing the zip file, there is no reboot now in the menu option.
theres only

apply sdcard:update.zip
choose zip from sdcard
toggle signature verification
toggle script asserts

should i just manually reboot by pulling out the battery?

In Froyo, there is no mobile.apk - the hotspot is built into the framework of the OS.

Thanks dude. That's been bugging me. Not that I want it removed; I just wanted the answer ;)

Hit the menu capacitive button on the far left.

Do not flip steps 11 & 12. You will not get the Yellow Triangle you need if you do that.

Did you get rid of the keyboard sound too then? I saw a bunch of keyboard look sounds files in there, but none of them quite made the sound the Samsung keyboard makes.

I heard there were issues with green, but if it's working for you then I'll give it a shot.

I'm pretty sure I followed your procedure to the T, after I push it with odin then I boot into recovery using the volume keys and flash whatever zip I'm going to flash. After I flash the zip then I clear the cache/dalvik cache and reboot. Lately I've been flashing the new superclean roms, and I just noticed on adryn's thread that they come with a built-in cwm, I wonder if that may be the reason I have to redo red cwm everytime I flash one.
I had absolutely zero issues with green cwm and I'm pretty much still a noob. Adrynalyne's super clean includes the new green cwm that xda said was necessary for this build. So if I'm starting to understand more of this stuff as I read more and do it more often, every time you flash the super clean rom it replaces the red cwm with the new green cwm.

Also, not sure it this is new in 2.2 or I just never bothered to pay attention before, but under settings>privacy there are two check boxes. One says back up my data "back up current settings and application data." The other says automatic restore "when reinstalling an application, backed up settings and data will be restored.

I'm just loving the froyo and all the little things people are discovering. Also noticed my facebook sync is working now. Syncing the fb contacts was a little different, but actually seemed easier once I figured it out. And also noticed I now have email addresses for all my fb contacts and even phone numbers for some who were not in my phone contacts.

I dont know what im doing wrong. I tried applying the update.zip (which is the renamed file from my other post) all i get is the white triangle with yellow ! and the android guy. Do i need a different update.zip?

it says:

e:failed to verify whole-file signature
e:signature verification failed
installation aborted.

maybe i should just wait til i get home to do it properly...

make sure you flash through ODIN the new Clockwork from the first post

help guys.. i'm in the force close from hell mode... how do i do this?

1) Boot into recovery and do a Wipe Cache.

Because your finger has to pressing down on the volume button as you plug it into your USB port.

This may be vary from phone to phone.

I have been flashing odin since maybe october with my phone maybe 2 to 3 times a day... i have done it 3 times today,, all by plugging in and pressing down afterwards.

It only works to press the volume after plugging it in if you remove the battery. If you leave the battery in, then plug it in, it will just start charging. If you leave the battery in and hold volume down before plugging, you'll get download mode. Technically both work, just a detail between them.

PS.

Thanks for the browser file X. That's why I was getting FC's doing voice searches for a few things. It wouldn't use dolphin and I removed the stock browser.

Which reminds me. I think I'm going to put together a system dump for DL30 if there isn't already one out there. Let me know guys.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just remembered the update is a zip so everyone already has it. Go me.

Cool then I guess this is worth a try also. I just could never get ODIN to see me if I didn't hold the button as I plugged in. Probably user error.

So based on what you've just written, and my requirement to not bog readers down with multiple methods, it sounds like simply flipping 11 & 12 in the procedure as written is the right thing to do?

@X It's all good. Back to my prior post. I had the file the whole time. My own fault there.

@Cory. Either way works. Especially if the battery is out. I just find it easier to plug in first so you're not squeezing the phone when trying to get the cable in.

EDIT: Also, if you're flashing multiple items in Odin you won't have to unplug between each one.
