I installed this, everything seemed to go fine then when it came up, in Froyo I got this error:

SORRY! The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly.

there was no way out of this, the Force Close just brought it back up... it did start me through the set up steps, brought up the new icons for software setup, but this msg kept popping up..

So I pulled the battery and started from scratch on these steps. Now my phone just has SAMSUNG locked on the screen

NVM - I went back in and cleared the data as discussed in this thread and was able to reinstall...

I was having force close issues and went back and wiped cache and data and reinstalled. No more force close issues.

im asking because i tried it and tested it my data speeds have incresed from around 247kbps too 665kbps download speed. and 407 upload speed on the first try..

Thanks, man. I was trying that, but CW kept failing with some error. I ended up using one on my SD card from sonofskywalkers ROM that I downloaded a long time ago. As far as it being the old version, give me 2 minutes. I have the files we need to update it to the new one, and will add it to post #3. Just use Root Explorer to copy and paste them over the old ones.

Just wondering, did you do the new CWR flash from XDA, and then after everything booted, click "Flash Clockwork Recovery" and then reselect Samsung Facinate and try throught there? THat was the only way i got CWR to work for me.

So to provide empirical evidence of my post this us sent from my 2.2 fascinate.
I went gunner mike style and skipped the lube for this flash purposely.

Before-
Black hole 3.0, frankenkernel uv, adw launcher, debinged with touch of blue theme.

disable voodoo, boot fully, flash dl30. (didn't clear cache or anything. Just flashed and booted. )

Successful boot with apps intact. Well test further and update

Edit: the flash broke my widgets, have to re-deploy. Running fairly choppy with lots of off graphical anomalies that blink In and out with scrolling.

Edit 2: reboot cleared up system lag and display bugs. No other issues so far. Well try red cwm soon.

Been running since lunchtime and Touchwiz seems to be a little snappier than DL09. Came from a rooted version of the DL09 update and wiped data/cache before flashing. Observations:

- GPS works flawlessly
- no more bing default in browser or search soft key *
- flash
- apps2sd
- adjust system font
- homescreen preview (i.e. Leap for SenseUI)
- darkened theme
- vibration intensity toggle
- new text selection in browser (long press for a magnifier, drag to select.)
- noticeable increase in responsiveness
- app drawer still shows apps in the order they were installed. Not sure why they didn't do alphabetical.
- contacts can be displayed based on first or last name.
- long pressing on the notification bar and dragging to the left/right decreases/increases brightness

* looks like this version may not be fully bloated. Bing nor VZ Navigator are installed which causes the Car Cradle shortcuts not to work.

I can't seem to make that work. Is there a specific place on the notification bar that needs to be pressed and held? Does it still work if using LauncherPro instead of default launcher?

Yes. Go back to CWM Red Screen by turning phone off, then hold vol + and - at same time and hold power button until samsung flashes twice. Then release and Red CWM comes back up. In that menu use the vol - key to scroll to wipe cache data and then press power button. It will wipe cache. Then go back and use the vol - key to go to wipe data and it will take it a minute or two and will wipe data. Then use the vol keys to add the dl30.zip file and let it run through the process and you are done! Hello Froyo

I'm having a pretty good experience thus far. The only issue I've come across is when using the web browser, the screen doesn't format the text properly when double tapped.

THis has to be the dumbest question but I see ppl saying they can flash back to stock and then flash since the froyos already rooted, does that mean u dont need to be rooted in order to get froyo?

it means that you dont have to be rooted to flash , you still need clockwork recovery. ...so basically if you flash clockwork recovery then flash the DL30 file using clockwork , you will have rooted froyo

no idea when it will be , captivate has had froyo for months leaked, but still no official version..

So is there any way to get the widget back that had the AP updates, Stock Updates, and Calendar that was on the far left window from the home screen???? I am assuming this was a Samsung Widget?
