Leaving the Nexus behind

That's unacceptable. I'd keep hounding Vzn CS and demand a different replacement phone than the Nexus. And if they refused I'd just quit paying Verizon. A friend of mine did that and there isn't anything they can really do to you. If they file a credit ding you can get it fixed by claiming they didn't hold up their end of the contract. Credit beuros side with you.

There are a few ways to get out of your contract, but not paying them and then expecting it to get removed from your credit report is not one of them. The credit bureau is on your side the same as Wall St. is.

You're probably right lol. My friend that did that is a genious when it comes to credit reports. He quit paying on a house right after buying a second one (no $$ down) in Vegas. Then he rented the first one out for over 6 months (all profit) before they forclosed. Then he got the forclosure put into someone else's name, I think it was a guy in prison that he files a fake income tax form on and gets a cash tax refund on a debit card sent to a PO box. Verizon he can do when he's drunk. After you shake his hand you count your fingers! :D

My replacement Maxx comes tomorrow. Its a CLN device since its technically a warranty exchange, but I'll live with it. (Wouldn't be reasonable to ask for a new device to replace one that's over five months old)

Oh, and when tech support placed the order, the guy was asking me about the problems I was having, and he was like 'if those are the issues you're having, you can't go wrong with a Motorola.' As I suspected, as well, the reason they swapped me into a Maxx was because I've contacted them multiple times about the exact same issues.

I also left for a Maxx, but I live in a fringe area, both my wife and I had Nexus's and we kept dropping connections to even 3G even after I upgraded. She had the OG Droid and I had an Incredible and both never lost connection in the home.

We switched out one phone for a Maxx and it has been rock solid connecting. Even better than our older phones. I don't like the size, it is just too big to use easily in one hand but I thought the Nexus was a bit big as well.

As a guy who does develop for a living I really hated giving it up but when one works where you live and the other doesn't it makes the decision easy. I still want to go back to the Nexus but my brain is overruling my heart :-)

That's where I am as well. Love ICS, love the HD screen, but hate everything else. Based on this experience, I will never buy another Samsung. Too many problems and too much frustration. And if the Maxx works out, I'll seriously look at the Razr HD when it comes out.

I was offered the MAXX about a month ago (and as far as I know, it's still noted in my file), but what really held me back was the screen, the shape (coffins are for burials, not for phones), and Gingerbread. Reliability be damned for me, it can't override those (subjective) faults.

That being said, if the HD is epic, it will be a strong consideration, particularly if Sammy gets the next Nexus.

I'll just learn to live with it. The screen is a step down for sure, but if I can actually get a data connection I won't care.

I have documented calls to VZW for the last 4 months, I called yesterday and demanded a different phone. My Fascinate was a POS and I really thought this one would be better, my fault there. I was told by the tech lady that I have to go through the process, meaning a replacement GNEX, which I wasn't home to receive today and will pick it up in the morning. My partner and I can sit in the truck and compare signal and data speed with my GNEX and his Maxx and it's almost laughable. Samsung has screwed the pooch again.

Try going through twitter. That's how I got a swap approved.

On the maxx now. Wow what a difference. I do miss ICS, the screen, and no bloat but everything else is so much better here. I have 5 bars where with the Nexus I only had one if any. Battery life is amazing.

Yeah I'm counting down the days to the ICS update, but I'll live. Blur takes some getting used to, but again, I'll live. Battery life has been killer. After 10 hours its at 60%.

Love ICS. Hate the battery life even with an extended battery.....and having to put airplane mode on and off to receive data connection. No apps checking for updates and screen on low as it will go still makes my battery be at 50% after 3-4 hours of minimal use.

Looking to sell or trade for a Razr Maxx!

If you haven't rooted first, you're crazy. I rooted a long time ago... the 4.0.4 radio fixes those handoff issues, and battery life, while still not amazing, is at least a full day.

That is really bad and it might be what pushes me back to the iPhone. I've always liked Android and I LOVE ICS, but I've never been able to get a great Android phone with good battery life. My iPhone lasted a good 3x longer. Doesn't matter how much better Android is when you have to be careful with how much you use your phone. I never had to worry about my iPhone dying. It really sucks. I'd take the RAZR MAXX if it had a 720p screen, ICS, and didn't look so ugly.

Remember the iPhone is only 3g also with a much smaller screen so yeah its going to last longer.

99% sure. The nexus is just not reliable enough for me. Att's network in my area is far better.

That is interesting! I have AT&T service as well, and I've never heard a Verizon customer say that. Hold on... well it doesn't happen that often. I was thinking about the GSM version of the G-Nex, but was worried about the speak volume. These issues are prevalent on android phones with manufacture skins like the One X. Perhaps you have some bad apps installed. How can vanilla android have the same problems as the Touch-Wiz, Sense, and Blur phone? I've read reviews on the one X, and Sense causes occasional lags, there's no removable battery, and your restricted to 16GB of internal memory. Not to mention AT&T's LTE network is relatively small compared to Verizon. But you do have the HSPA+ advantage, which is nice! I've gotten speeds up to 9.12mbps so far. But try all that has been suggest 1st before you switch, if you haven't already.

But if you do, I'd like to hear from you how it works out.

My Droid Razr Maxx will be here by noon Saturday. They sent me a replacement yesterday(someone else's trash) and it is worse than my original phone. 4 out of 5 times when you open the camera the phone reboots. Stream music through Google or Akimbo book player and phone reboots. Good luck all!

I don't mind the smaller screen when it comes with 3x the battery life. And my Galaxy Nexus is barely better on 3G. I don't even turn off 4G to save battery life because it barely makes a difference on my Nexus.

I am another one that AT&T might be better in my area. My PS Vita gets a better data connection in my apt than any smartphone I had on Verizon. I used mostly Motorola phones.

I also have a Rezound. When it isnt having its own data issues....it does get data reception in my apt.. But not better than my Vita. Both my RAZR and Rezound have to be near windows, my Vita doesnt.
