Lets make a list of our favorite Optimus V specific apps!

/facepalm..
The main point of top whatever amount threads is so people can look at the first post and see whats suggested. sifting through couple hundred posts is a pain in the but.

Ridiculous. Use the "goto first unread post" icon (
firstnew.gif
) and keep up yourself, the thread starter is under no obligation to do anything for you.

Where did you ever come up with this idea?

In Eollie's defense, I thought that the OP was going to list the top 10 recommended apps too for our specific device or something or that sort.

The point of this was to list apps that are handy just for the Optimus V. Not just apps you like. This got out of hand very quickly. I do think there should be a sticky-ed thread that lists Optimus V specific apps, but not like this. Example of such apps:

  1. Keylights v0.2
Turns your touchkey leds into notifications for texts and missed calls.
Here is a link to the app: http://forum.sdx-developers.com/and...ights-as-notification-updated-june-3-2010/75/
And a mirror as the OP files are corrupt: KeyLights-0.2.apk
  2. 50% Time Without Signal Fix
    [APP] 50% time without a signal fix - 2/2/2011 - xda-developers
  3. Script to reset 3G/Wifi in case the signal drops
It also logs the events so you know portion of the day you had a data connection.
    http://forum.androidcentral.com/optimus-v/64224-constantly-losing-data-connection-9.html#post731996
  4. Optimus V Optimization script
Run once after each boot with g-script or add to /system/etc/init.d/ renamed as 90mytweaks so that it runs automatically. It tweaks system values to run faster and changes the scheduler to noop. It sets the Wifi interval to look for a tower to 5 mins. It also fixes the proximity sensor issue.

Hey everyone,

I thought it would be good for people to list there top 10 (or as many as you wish) apps that they have been using on THERE phone up to now. The ones they always keep and use. I wish I could take off the top 10 part from the thread but I dont know how. I have a few but keep in mind I just bought the phone a little over 1 week ago. I tryed to make it simple, just a few that you like and a brief explanation with a link if you like, that's it. Let the reader check it out in the Market or where it may be. This was not to be a giant list on one post to be updated my a mediator. Keep up with the thread or just read the comments ok. Easy as that! Leave it as it is and enjoy. If someone wants to do it different be my guest It's ok with me. I already have a few of them on my phone!! thx guys

Printshare: works great over my wifi and prints everything!

Just to briefly address this...
Most of the time is common knowledge if you post a top (insert number) thread you plan on keeping track of the posts and listing them. It would be nice for the new people to not have to sort through the chit chat and at sometimes hundreds of threads.

How would you pick them?
Each person would have a different top ten.
I was just saying maybe the Op could list them like a app name and link to the post. Makes if easier to navigate instead of reading five pages of people doing exactually what has happen up to now.

I would gladly go back and edit my posts with something else to clean up the thread.

Ashton you should be able to edit the title by editing your initial post and changing the title there. Select advanced edit and it should give you the ability to edit the title.

mmarz exactly what you posted is what I was meaning.
it would prolly require a mode to reserve say the first 5 posts.

OK I adjusted the first post and title. Someone take over now I guess. If you need me for something let me know. I start working this monday or tuesday so I wont be online until late, like after 10:00 pm Eastern time.

I'd love to know more about the specifics of this...

Just open up the script and read it. Nothing it does is permanent. That is why it needs to be reapplied after a reboot.

The system tweaks increase the sdcard read ahead buffer and tell the system you are using a non-rotating disk.

Here is the source but don't use their script as it won't work for the Optimus V: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999064

I highly recommend everything that MMARZ posted (HIS POSTING) as well as the following apps:

NoLED: if Keylights v0.2 did not work well for you then this is a great alternative.. Instead of the keylights turning on it turns on your screen (black background) and shows an icon for what ever message you may have (works with Email,SMS,voicemail, all or any apps) and its free

Apps Organizer: does what it says - lists all your apps in categories for easy finding (defiantly worth a look)

iMediaShare: As long as your on a homenetwork you can stream all of your videos/pix on any UpNp device (360,PS3,another PC, ext...).. Streams UTube as well as many other's as well (the free version is all you really need)

TiKL (Touch to talk): its a must for anyone that doesnt want to waste there mins while talking to other Android/Iphone user's.. (its a must)
NOTE: As we have a 4 part screen make sure to push the corners of the button on the screen instead of in the middle~

TuneInRadio: its only one of the best FREE live streaming music apps around.. Has local radio,Police,Fire, weather channels as well as many other streams..

Lost Phone: its a must for those that go out and about and are clumbsy and loose there phone alot.. Has all the features as many paid apps only this one is free..

ZDBox: Been using this sense Beta.. Does just about anything as other taskmanagers and a few other tweaks here and there (Battery info monitor,2G/3G Traffic monitor, Do not disturb mode, App locking, task killing, App manger

BeeJiveFB: its only the best FaceBook chat client for Android (nuff said)

Flow: Facebook app that does so much more then the offical Facebook app for Android.. deff. worth a look~

DropBox: Share files between others and yourself on multiable devices including your phone

ES File Explorer: it is what it says.. Plus if your running CM7 Romz you can have ROOT access (read/write).. I like it better then Astro myself~

Electrodroid: has all the known values for all thats electronic.. Its a must for any Tech savvy guru

Scanner Radio/Scanner Buddy: Live streaming scanners for Police and what not

Waze: Free GPS with a twist.. Kinda like Pacman only your live with other users called "Wazer's".. It is a full fledge GPS Nav. app however it trys to make it fun for other's

WebSharing: think of it as a file explorer exsept you can use it on Wifi & Data.. (worth a look)

Widgetsoid: its already been posted but its just that good that it must be posted again~

Bit more then 10 but I have so many more that I would like to list however Im at work..
However these are close to my top picks that I can think of for now..

Scoot thanks for posting about tunein.
In my truck I cant get local stations even with a high end after market H/U.

This app will now lwt me listen to the "local" radio and in HD.

Audiogalaxy - streams music from your PC to your phone (has last.fm support too!)

TrueCaller - Called ID app that gets that same info a landline would! Despite the nagative reviews it's worked fine for me - listed a friend's full name when I got a text from him and I only had his first name entered into my contacts. Also has a call filter to block calls and you can report spam numbers on their site.

Auto WiFi Enabler - Will automatically toggle on your wifi when you enter an area with an access point you have used. Uses cell tower based location rather than GPS which is nice on the battery.

Has anyone tried Traffic Counter Extended? It used to work well for having a widget on home screen that shows minutes used for the month but has been really terrible lately. Wondering if anyone else is having problems with it.

Quick Boot: reboot into system, recovery or bootloader from an app.

Fancy Widget: Free weather and clock homescreen widget.

Lookout Mobile Security: Backup and restore, security, phone finder for free.

Adfree: Block ads on the phone.

Aldiko: ebook reader where you can import books as epubs or pdfs.

Gasbuddy: Find cheap gas, as if there is such a thing.

Droidwall: Firewall for your phone.

Password Safe: Password generator and manager. I use this on my home and work computers, so it's easy for me to keep my password on the go and not have to remember any of them.
