Let's see those 5G Speed Tests!

We have been on home quarantine now for 10 or 11 days so maybe some day I can get out again and test speeds. Only time I even leave the house is to get supplies. And that is like once a week. So I really haven’t even got to test T-Mobile’s 5G network much except the first week I had it out in real life.

If I stand right below a micro cell on a light pole in my neighborhood, I get decent speeds here in Los Angeles.

Been really hard to test 5G speeds as we went on quarantine a week after launch here. In the limited testing I've done 297 mbps is still the fastest I've got so far. Seems tmobile low band 5G is about 30% faster than speeds if I was in the same spot as LTE. No earth shattering changes.

on S20 ultra with T-Mobile if I put on LTE I am getting better speed than 5G here in Northwest Indiana

the phone allows you to select normal settings which is all-5G, LTE, etc. it also allows to change the settings where LTE is the highest. Out of the box, 5G is turned on

Does anyone have their S20Ultra UNLOCKED model on ATT 5g?We suppose to have g5 Today still not on my Ultra. However no one can confirm att has towers turned on yet plus I had to call and get my IEMI into system.I sure hope weird ATT issue that phone had to be LOCKED samsung?
Oh also confirm dont need a new sim for 5 G,mine several years old.
thanks

Had to chat with att again as my s20 ultra IEMI wasnt not in the system it is now and the great 5G speed well it aint here so far like 80 down and 9 up.

I have to break it to you guys but many of these Sprint results are actually just LTE. There was an issue with the 5G indicator displaying anytime your phone was connected to 5G capable equipment (band 41 64t64r equipment) regardless of 5G actually being enabled on that equipment or not. On the bright side LTE is pretty fast with 3x 20mhz channels and carrier aggregation.

Was not aware that Sprint had any true 5G going yet? Of course AT&T has their own fake 5G(e) as well...they all play games

It wasn't an intentional lie like what at&t is doing and in my market it got fixed fairly quickly. It was just a quirk involving being connected to a 5g tower that didn't have 5g turned on yet. Sprint was deploying 5G NR on their 2.5ghz spectrum which was shared with LTE. Now all that is dead in the water as T-Mobile is going to be using that spectrum on their network.

Howdy.
The Signal Check Pro app on my Sprint S20+ is now showing me connected to a T-Mobile tower AND on 5G at my home.
It was not doing this last week.
Guess the stories about tower sharing are true. :)

That's good to know. I just started working for a company that give ridiculous discounts on Sprint service which in general is horrible in my area, but if they're truly starting to share towers it may not be an issue with the right phone.

Anyone on AT&T that lives in any of these cities pick up any 5g+ ??

I can’t find any in my city.

my older sisters iPhone xs had the 5G logo on it since last year but it hadn't come out yet

If you look closely, it should say 5Ge (stands for 5G Evolution), which was AT&Ts wideband LTE. No Apple phone supports 5G currently (some models of this falls iPhones are supposed to).
