Let's test if the Note 5 is using Sony IMX240, is yours?

Just tested my note with AIDA64 to see if Samsung was doing the ISO Cell / Sony IMX240 camera sensor issue that happened on the S6 where people were getting different rear sensors. After testing I can confirm my unit is using the Sony IMX240 in the rear and ISO for front.

Curious if any one else has checked.

No that is good, the S6 were marketed wit the Sony sensor but Samsung was unable to keep up with demand so they started sending some devices with their own in house sensor ISOCELL and did not inform the public till it was spotted by the users.

It was noted that while their sensor was good the better performer was the Sony so it became a crapshoot when your bought an S6 if you would get the right camera.

Get AIDA64 from Play Store, open app and go to devices.

I have verizon note 5 and it has the Sony sensor

Because when the S6 released some people were sold phones that did not have the Sony sensor, and though it was nice, it did not do as well as the marketed Sony sensor that it (should) have come with in the first place.

Samsungs response was they were unable to keep up with the demand and supply so they started sending units with their own in house cell.

So this is to see if any one gets a phone with out it like people were getting with the S6/Edge.

My Note5 uses Samsung sensor. How about yours?

Recently got a retail Note 5 in my country (Vietnam). It was made in Vietnam and recently when I checked the Rear cam FW it showed CW73, which means it uses a Samsung ISOCELL sensor.

The S6 I used months ago was made in Korea and uses a Sony sensor (IMX240). It gave me great pictures. I no longer have the S6, but so far I think the Note 5's camera is very similar to the S6. The characteristic of the images are the same (great contrast and colors, images are lighted well in dark situations). However when I chose to focus on the same subject using the Note 4 and Note 5 (my daily device is the Note 4) the image on the Note 4 is lighted more balanced, while the Note 5 is somewhat overexposed (just a little).

So what sensor is inside your Note 5? Is there any Note 5 with Sony sensor? Does it make any differences? You can check by typing *#34971539# in the stock dialer.
