LG G2 reboots on its own

I am having the same problem, reboots on every unlock and sometimes while accepting an incoming call. As per all your advice, i've removed the Gmail widget from the home screen. fingers crossed now. X

I've had my phone reboot over 10 times today each time I unlocked phone, just went to LG logo, and start up straight away, fine but anoying. So tonight I just held down power button and volume up button together, and reset count down comes on screen saying phone will restart in 4 seconds, counts down then restarts, problem gone. Worked for me hope it will for you also. Great phone, sold my iphone 5 to buy G2.

Just bought the G2 3 days ago. Seems like 70% of the time it reboots when I swipe to unlock. I removed Gmail widget from the unlock screen. Hopefully that helps. Besides that I love the phone.

Having same problem, sometimes random, sometimes on unlock. Tried downgrading to 4.5 and i dont have widget on homescreen or lock screen (never did). Still having restart problem, this is my 2nd G2...anyone find a definitive answer? Thanks in advance

Same thing happens to MY LG G2

Only had it since 8th December 2013

Looking forward to any excuses! :(

I've had the same problem and did a bit of testing since is occurs only sometimes. I found out that if i do not receive any email between the time I restart my phone. (Not the restart the phone does on it's own) the Phone will unlock correctly. As soon as I get the notification that I have a new e-mail message and I try to unlock my phone it restarts.

I've reported this to Verizon and they "said" they will let LG know of the issue. Anyone know how to contact google since it's their widget?

(Update)
I just chatted with LG support. They are aware of the issue and are working on an update for the OS. As with any software release no one would give me a date of the release. He just suggested removing the widget for now.

setting>lockscreen>shortcuts will get you there.

Im having the same problem. My g2 randomly started rebooting every 2 minutes. It breaks my spirit because I got this phone new little more than 30 days ago from Verizon. Contacted LG today to arange for warranty repair.

My spontaneous reboots also seem to be related to the gmail widget on my lock screen. I disabled it and so far so good. I'll inform Dutch T-Mobile about this. Thanks guys.

Had the same issue on AT&T G2. Removing Gmail widget seems to have fixed it.

Hi,
mine does exactly the same, it occurs most when the phone is charging, i hear a message notification so unlock the screen to see who has messaged and the phone re boots, this can happen three or four times before i get to read the message. un plugging the charger helps but it still does it ocassionally when not charging. its really annoying when you want to phone someone, pull it out your pocket, unlock it and it just keeps re booting everytime you unlock it.

i removed the gmail widget and i thought that was it, then a few hours later back to the same. i tried wiping the phone back to factory so that no apps on it but still the same, i have now turned the screen lock off and it never shuts down.

also i contacted LG and im pretty shocked at their attitude. first they said they hadnt heard of this problem, then the guy admitted yeah there were some handsets doing this.
i asked if i could get it repaired, he said i need to go to uk where i bought the phone at christmas and i could get it looked at in dubai where i live but i would have to pay for it.
serious its a great phone but i think it will be my first and last LG phone.

Hey this has been happening to me for the past 2 days, and after some playing around I tried uninstalled the "lg smartworld" app. Everytime i tried to uninstall it would restart, can anyone else see if this happens to them?

This has also been happening to me. I had the LG window case and it never happened, returned that case because it was poorly made (peeling the first night i had my 2nd one, returned the first as it didn't fit properly after dropping the phone once) and ever since I have been swiping to unlock it restarts multiple times a day. Up to 11 restarts today. This is complete bull****.

Hello, I just recently purchased my LG G2 from someone on eBay that had a Verizon certified refurbished device. He told me the first one he had was defective for some reason possibly this reboot issue I'm not sure but he assured me that since he had his second LG G2 he didn't have anymore issues. I've had the phone since this past Thursday and haven't had any major issues except for how the cursor using the "Swift" keyboard app sometimes goes back a space after hitting the space bar after typing a word.

Anyway, this past Friday I was notified for a Verizon LG system update. Is anyone still having this reboot issue after the latest system update?

I have an D802 G2 and I'm getting this reboot issue. I don't even have the Gmail Widget on the lock screen or on any of my home screens, can't work out why its happening.

I got rid of the weather widget off my home screen and it seems to have stopped the issue. My Player Pro widget seems to not affect it so perhaps it doesn't like widgets that access the internet or something?

I just bought my G2 yesterday. This afternoon it started shutting itself off while I was playing with Tabs in Chrome. I had 3 Tabs open. I closed all but 1 and the problem went away. I don't remember adding any Widgets to it. I am new to smart phones and don't know what I'm doing yet.
Well, I spoke too soon. It was working, now it's doing it again. I noticed that when it first turns it there is a Dialog Box to click "+" to add widgets. Maybe that's part of it.
Update: 5:52PM My G2 did an update shortly after my last update. The shutting down problem appears to be gone. I've been using it for over an hour with no shutdowns.
Update - 2/19/14 - Still no more shutdowns.
