LG G3 lollipop problems

Finlly got the OTA this morning. I factory reset my phone and things seem to be in working order. I'll get back with any bugs I find.

Verizon LG G3 issues I have found so far are:
Unstable WiFi, constantly connecting/disconnecting
Unable to receive calls, or text messages in hangouts when connected to wifi(Probably due to the WiFi issue)

I highly recommend everyone getting the update if you have issues after the update to do a factory reset. Personally I did the reset before and re-downloaded my apps.

Sorry Theot. The google accounts not syncing over WiFi is a known issue. If you update, you will be waiting on LG to issue a fix for this issue. They are aware of it, for what that's worth. It's killed my incoming calls, and SMS to Hangouts. And incoming email to Gmail, if I turn on my WiFi. If you update, you will be leaving your WiFi off.

I could not resolve the notifications failures nor the issues with Hangouts and with WiFi. I tried the factory reset, cleared the cache several times, and rebooted I don't know how many times. Two of the reboots were with the battery pulled. I finally threw in the towel and went back to KitKat. I'll let some more intrepid souls work out the bugs in this release and wait to load up 5.1.

My Gmail app is also having issues with slow receiving of mail even over 4G. I switched to back to Aqua Mail and it's working perfectly over WiFi.
I had switched to the Gmail app to get conversation mode.

Sorry, I'm not having any issues with that as I'm not on verizon so my apologies. However I still recommend a reset for any other issues as lollipop is a major update.

Looks like good old verizon hosed things up.

I have learned from my angry as hell spousal unit, that even with WiFi off, I am missing calls, and hangouts messages. I checked my account online, and sure enough, I had missed all her calls during the day, and all hangouts messages. I have been forced to give up my gvoice number everyone has, and use my cell number. I have forwarded my gvoice to the cell number. uninstalled the hangouts dialer. Set hangouts to sms. Now I have to use the fugly baby puck looking LG dialer. Grrrr I just got this phone less than a month ago. In chatting with verizon, they state no one has contacted them with this issue. Lying scum!!

So after getting my apps installed things are working well...except notifications. Not pulling down the list on the locker screen is annoying. Plus not seeing a preview in the status bar when the phone is open is a downright WTH. Preview meaning when the notification comes in. It's just the notification icon and that's it. Why, LG? Why?

Only issue for me seems to be a little bit of lag with apps. I'm gonna factory reset I'm just being lazy about it.

I got the update late last night. Stayed up until it finished downloading and then did a factory reset.

The only issue I am having is with my Gmail not pushing automatically. I have to manually refresh every time to get my emails. I hope they get this figured out quick.

Otherwise I'm enjoying the update. Its almost like having a new phone! As a serial phone swapper, I've had my G3 since last August, which is a record for me.

I have tried the M8, the S5, the Note 4 and even the BlackBerry Classic and there isn't another phone that comes close to being as good as my G3.

Hi

Newbie here.. I just updated Lolipop to the latest version. It took all night to get to 35% (update 1/2). In the morning I tried to look online for solutions.

Ended up taking out the battery and reinserting it again. Each time the update progressed 10% and then just froze.

Update 2/2 was complete and then it was optimizing apps for an hour.

Now it wont go past the 'LG lifes good' screen.

I've tried holding down the power button and volume down but had not luck.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks!

I found that changing my router settings ipv6 from auto detect to 6to4 tunnel fixed my notification issues. I'm still evaluating whether my battery is better or worse.

I'm thinking about getting a LG G3 & while reading up on it came across this thread. Do you need to be rooted to go back to 4.4.2 if 5.0 causes problems? Is there a thread where the how-to is discussed?

Well it really depends on the version you get and what carrier it will be on. That's just my assumption because I have a LG G3 Metallic Black 32GB and its on Lollipop 5.0.1 (updated when I set it up for the first time and did a factory reset of the phone and SD card) and I've had no problems after updating all the apps and letting my account sync and the update adjust to the phone. I get amazing battery life for my use even if I'm a light to heavy user depending on the day. And I only use it on WiFi right now because I can't afford to keep it in service with Sprint (waiting for Boost Mobile to add it to there supported BYOSP list, the G2 is listed just not the G3) with their cost of $60 a month without taxes. I'm not sure where you would go for rooting the device but maybe you'll get lucky and not have any issues! I hope this helps!!! Good luck.😊

Boost Mobile Moto G (4.4.4)
Or The Sprint LG G3 (5.0.1)
