Lg G3 no turning back now...

Well its an addiction really, I try all kinds of apps that do the same thing and delete the ones that don't cut it.
I also find out what apps have been banned and download those, most of the time its because what they can do and not because they are malware/viruses.
There are a lot of apps that do all kinds of things and I find them.
If you cant have that many apps on a sd card then what is the point?
Might as well stick with a phone that has no sd card slot and use the little internal memory.

I keep my apps and app data in my internal memory in order to keep my system running smooth without any problems due to corrupt files from read and write errors. I use my SD card for everything else such as media related things and personal files.

Try reducing the amount of apps you have on your sd card or just go internal if have enough space there. It would save you a ton of headaches!

I'm wondering if the problem is that some of those apps that are no longer "official" just done run well on newer versions of Android. The LG nitro was an older phone, you said you have had it for 4 years right? Was it running Gingerbread?

Re: Lg g3 no turning back now...

What does it matter? having more apps installed won't change performance of the phone if you know what you're doing and keep them from running when you're not using them.

I suspect the SD card as well. Still, there is a chance that the hardware is defective.

No need to get touchy. I was just curious how someone with 400 apps uses their phone.

Once that internal memory fills up then what?
True any app that runs smoother or needs to be installed in the internal memory is fine.
But any other apps that run fine on the sd is better off on the sd.

UPDATE:
I think I might have found the issue.
I believe this app was causing my phone to stick all cores at 2.5ghz and rarely scaled down.
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e....mugich.cpumulticorecontrolpro&token=FxfiXCpd
I uninstalled it and it seems android is running things smoother and cooler.
I will continue to test this out to see if its really that app or not.
Funny thing is I never changed the settings and just left it at default.

^^^Please let us know if that does fix it.

Just think of how you use your phone, but picture ten more pages of apps in the drawer.

I rooted mine and it caused major delays. I don't know how to uproot it. About ready to throw it away and claim insurance for a new one and eat the deductible.

Looking good so far, phone stayed at 100% over night and cool to the touch.
Sometimes I would touch it and it would be warm or it would be fine but once I turned the screen on to look at the time, then right after that it would lag and get hot and reboot.

I will test throughout the day and see how the performance is. Keep you guys updated.

I get that. Just trying to understand why 400 apps. Is this what a power user has? Is it just because they can?

If I read the OP correctly, all the problems started AFTER you rooted and deleted and disabled a bunch of apps. Think maybe you deleted something you shouldn't have? :-\

If not that, I'd bet it's one of the couple of hundred apps you have installed, or a conflict between to apps that always run in the background.

Re: Lg g3 no turning back now...

I am definitely a power user and tinkerer. I usually replace stock apps like calendar, dialer, sms, alarm clock.
For more less intrusive apps with little to no permissions.
However I have not even done that yet on my G3, so if its acting like this already then I don't see it getting better.
My entire app collection is on the sd card and I have not reinstalled all of them to the phone just yet.

Just to update after removing the cpu manager app, it seems to still freeze and lag.
Next I will revert some cpu settings in the hidden menu I changed and see if that helps.
If after that it still doesn't help, I will unmounts the sd card and see if it helps.
Sucks if that would be the case since LG claims it can handle up to 2T*

I know what I deleted and they were safe to remove, I did make a backup of them just in case.
All the apps I have installed are in the internal memory NOT the sd. All the other 400+ apps are on sd unused.

Also I know how to configure the phone and have things running properly on it.
I WILL track the problem down, so I will let you guys know.

Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

Alright so I was pissed off that maybe I got a messed up phone because it should not be overheating like this.

The phone heats up to the point of shutting down and I have never ever seen an overheat warning.

It usually would reboot but one time I had to pull the battery.

Seems like everyone says the screen is not bright but mine however is too bright even set to 0 and auto is off.

Anyway I hit up att on their site first and then called them, the lady was cool and she has made an order to replace it and with return shipping prepaid.

Funny thing she said they don't send the phones with batteries?
She said she would send one anyway.
Then she checked to see if they had any and they didn't have any.

Then she was telling me about a date 9/22......then my phone shutdown!

I know the phone will arrive within 3-5 days with free shipping both ways.
I got 10 days to return the one I have or they will charge me full price for it.

She also said take everything like the battery, sim and sd card out and keep them. "dispose the battery"

So I should have a "NEW" G3 soon, hope its not refurbished I will let you guys know how it goes.

Either way, even she doesn't send a battery I still have the one in the phone now.

Which I know is good and I also just got my 3850mah battery.

Now I got to remove stuff so I will be busy oh also they will ask you to download att remote support!

She could not get anything from my phone but a blank screen.

Keep you posted.

Hey man, glad you are getting a new device, I hope it works out a bit better for you then this one has. Weird that they wouldn't send a new battery with the phone. I replaced mine for a new one and it came with a battery, charger, etc. Hopefully you have better luck this time around!

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

9/22? I've got a dental appointment that day. When I'm in the chair, I'll think of you thousands of miles away trying out your new phone. Hope it's a good one.

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

I'm running GSam and I've never seen my temp go above 92F. I've never once seen an overheat warning.
Glad you were able to trade it in.

Re: Lg g3 and at&t warranty information

Haha thanks dudes, I will be sure to test it out just like have been testing the one I have.

So just so everyone knows you have 1 year replacement if it is malfunctioning.
The phone can't be visibly damaged or have water damage and they will honor the warranty.
Otherwise if you send them a phone you know is damaged by you then they will charge you the full amount.
