LG G4: Are you getting one?

I am running a s6 edge. But one of my friend is going to take a g4 for a try.

I have little confidence that extra - or even replacement - leather backs will be available. Everyone has suggested this as an option - everyone but LG. Their silence on this makes me doubt the whole notion. I suspect that the process and the cost will be prohibitive enough that we won't see this actually happening. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

There will definitely be replacements, it's just a question of quality, color and when they'll be available.

And I don't know what the rules are, but I don't think 3rd parties need LGs permission to make the backs.

I'd love to see VZ make one with black leather and red stitching.

Man, I hope you're right. But I fear it'll be more along the lines of sending it in for a new back if yours gets ruined. That way LG wouldn't have to manufacture a large stock of their pricey, time-consuming leather backs. But I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I agree about the 3rd party backs, but as much as I'd love a soft-touch plastic finish, there's just something about having the official aesthetic. Still, if I end up stuck with that ugly (in my opinion) diamond pattern back, I'll jump at the chance for something more tasteful, official or not.

Haha... Well, the silver M7 on which I'm typing this would argue that, but then again, Verizon refused to carry the black version! Bastards. I cursed them daily for a long time because of that. There's just something classy and timeless about black. Cars, clothes, phones...

Here is a spec comparison of the LG G4 vs all other corner flagships. The only difference on the G4 is that it does have fast charging. Also the Nexus 6 has lackluster photos and is not 64 bit but if you do not care about that it is a decent phone.

How is your Edge? I considered it, but I find its too pricey. That and I have read that there are major issues with ram management, battery drain, overheating causing damage to the gyroscope, and battery life. That theoretically should be taken care of via updates though.....except for the hardware damage.

Samsung makes great hardware and displays, it's too bad they ruin it with Touchwiz. It's getting better, but it's still bloated and slow.

I have an S6 Edge and I am going from Note 4 to G4 for my second phone but I have (so far) experienced no issues with Edge as you describe. I don't game, but I'm very heavy on multitasking and daily use. Its been good so far.

I think the black is probably real nice. Most of the reviews that address color seem to say they preferred the black. I'm the opposite of you though. It just seems like everything is black, silver, white. Need some color. That's one of the most frustrating things about Verizon when I WAS with them (other than bad customer service, slow updates etc) ... BLAND color choices.

Thanks! I'm totally torn. I am still leaning towards the G4 though, as I have a G3 and I love it. It's rooted and running a debloated ROM. There isn't even anything wrong with it, I just have to have the newest gadget all the time. That and I use the camera a lot, and the camera on the G4 looks to be amazing. It's an expensive hobby, lol.

Well, the flagships anyway. Well, excluding the Droid line. Damn Verizon. Bastards! I wish I had another viable option, but they're the only ones with 4G service both at my home and my work.

Same here Verizon has the best coverage at home, work and in the areas I frequent.

I had AT&T for years and was always getting dropped calls even on flagship HTC phones.

I guess that means LG doesn't have a plan. I'm more comfortable with a manufacturer or carrier plan simply because they have more of an incentive to keep you satisfied. The ATT plan is outrageous in my mind. I'm thinking the leather G4 without a case Id like to be covered. I'll look more into the aftermarket plans.
