LG G4 First Impressions & Pending Review

re: LG G4 First Impressions & Pending Review

Beautiful day, tho' a bit breezy! The video is almost too perfect. It almost looks to be computer generated graphics. I like it a lot!

If you get a chance, you might take a night video. I would be interested to see if it has the "yellowish" cast that some pre-intro stills showed at night.

Thanks for your efforts....

Gives it a subtle sexiness to it, i agree! 😀

Re: That Subtle Curve

It's a good design detail....practical and also stylish. The curve is quite subtle....reflections in the glass are not very much distorted.

Re: That Subtle Curve

The curve is designed to fit in the hand - better than a flat slab. Also fits well in front pocket of jeans. To use it is to appreciate it.

Indeed and i find video is just a joy and the curve adds that little something when streaming vids.

So far its again positive, I'm sure ill find negatives as i go along but as long as positives outweigh then content ill be.

So 1 day in and although i grew tired of large screen devices. The G4 like the G3 has a fantastic form and with that subtle curve it just works.

Battery life seems great this far but still to early to assess properly.

Like i mentioned in my OP the screen has improved greatly over the G3 its more vibrant and brightness levels are better.

Image quality is fine, but when will Android phones do something to fix the jelly effect? It was pretty strong in that G4 video.

That said, my Verizon G4 black leather back is on order. Looking forward to getting the phone next week.

I know what you mean but its not horrid just a bit annoying perhaps lol

This in balance is a fantastic camera, if you zoom in on this pic you can see evidence of over Sharpening but as stated this was on Auto and its again not I'll use horrid again lol

There is a ton of options available so yeh so far I'm impressed with the optics.

For me, the camera is up at the top of the list of important aspects of a phone. I do wish that Google and/or OEMs like Samsung/LG/HTC could figure out how to eliminate the jello effect. That said, I think there are things you can do to reduce the effects - walking and moving around definitely makes it worse. Standing still, pointing the camera at one scene, or perhaps panning slowly, should help.

I've also read about what you've seen with the over-sharpening. I know why they do that - gives more pop to the image, which is what most people want. Thankfully, we can shoot RAW with the G4, and process that with tools like Photoshop.

I have to admit I'm pretty excited about the G4. I purchased the Galaxy S6 (which I still have), and while the build quality is great, and the camera is awesome, the battery life has been disappointing. I think the LG G4 will be the best of the Android phones, at least until the Samsung Note 5 arrives in the fall. I can't wait to get it in my hands and start shooting images and generally learning everything I can about it.

This is something I'm curious about. Is it comfortable in a front pocket of slim fit jeans?

Yes. But no more (or less) comfortable than a G3 without the curve. The curve is subtle, so not an issue in the front pocket.

I find with my S6E that battery is fair around 4-5hrs average so not to bad.

But this is the G4 so we shall leave that for a vs thread lol

The Camera is just sublime and has all that is needed for that sweet shot.

Performance has been great also and in my experience this far it hasn't missed a beat, ram management seems fine this far also.

Let us know what you think when you get yours :-)

Re: That Subtle Curve

I can't wait to try it as a phone. After reading everyone's posts I'm thinking I need to go to AT&T during lunch today. Geez. LOL

Re: That Subtle Curve

My only problem is I want a nanoSIM so I can switch between the iPhone and G4. I'll probably stick with my online order

Re: LG G4 That Subtle Curve

The curve is very subtle. Not seeing it's function yet lol.
