This isn't a knock. I LOVE my G4 and the camera. I can't count the compliments I've gotten from so many people on my pics. Besides the ability to switch to wide angle, are there any indications that the regular camera is improved at all? I want to make the jump to the G5, but I can not tell if the camera is even 1% better. Again, not a bad thing as the G4 camera is great, but may not be worth a new phone if pics are my main point of concern.

Ugh, sort of a bummer. Not that it needed too much work, but even a slight bump in speed or handling light/dark would've been nice. I may need to hold off my.purchase in that case. As soon as something better from LG comes out camera-wise, I know id be jealous.

I believe LG's official response for this is that the SD820's image processing enhancements alone will make the G5's camera better than the G4. Otherwise, with the exception of the 2nd wide angle lens, the hardware is the same.

It's going to be interesting to compare the picture quality of the G5 with that of the new sensor in the S7. Last year's camera modules in the G4 and the S6 gave almost identical results, with some folks claiming the S7 had the leg up in automatic mode, and the G4 better in manual mode and RAW capture of course.

GSM Arena has done just that.

S7 wins quite convincingly in low light with HDR on. During the day it is a much closer battle, with the G5 winning in some situations.
