LG G6 a flop? Low sales?

Yeah and must admit note 7 in that blue color looked amazing.. Yeah i had issue with the G3, ended up at service 10 day after i bought it mbo and battery went dead. But after they gave me the new one didn"t had any issues after that but hey the time did passed him so. It was the time for the new one. I red that s8 has some issues with screen some yellow/white lines over the edge part, idk don't like that curvy screen it just didn't settle to me. And probably never will. But they did a great job minimizing the meat around the screen that i salute. 😁

It's not a sad reason... You'd be surprised how many ppl switch to iPhones or Samsungs for that same reason
A lot of people are like little 🐑 for sure. I have had Palm, HTC, Samsung and now LG smart phones. I never had an iPhone till work gave me one and its ok. I like my Androids better. The gay cummunity by far are the biggest Apple sheeple of all. Very often in a group of friends where everyone has their phones out everyone has an iphone but me with my LG G5.

Actually, I don't disagree with you. I was the 2nd post to this thread and I gave the reason of needing more/better advertising. So we probably agree in principle.
We do agree in principle. I think on its own merit, the G6 is an excellent phone. And when you can get it for $500 or else, I feel it's a better value for money than a OnePlus 5 in the same price point. But sadly, the G6 isn't being sold in a vacuum and I don't think LG did enough to market the merits of the phone to make it as appealing to a wide cross-section of consumers.

I think the Samsung revolution started with S2. It's not all marketing.
Actually, Samsung started testing their marketing strategies with the OG Galaxy S. It's just that when the S2 rolled around, they had a very good product they could market much better as well.

Agreed.

They've shown very lackluster advertising

Even the V20 ads didn't make sense.

If you've got someone like Juan Carlos Bagnell saying he's used the V20 to do phone reviews and people cannot tell the difference, you've got something.

I would have loved to seen for an ad part of a commercial shot on the G6. Or even better, a parody music video being shot on a G6 of the guys who sang "Fly like a G6". Or a photo shoot done in the rain and all they're using is the G6, which highlights the camera and the water resistance.

Anything catchy that showcase people using the phone's strengths...

I thought the 32 GB would be a deal breaker too but it hasn't been that big an issue for me. Yes I would have preferred 64gb internal storage but I try to keep minimum 4-5 gb free and haven't had any big issues with lack of storage

I'd say 50% of apps can be loaded to the micro SD card, and you can save your camera pics directly to SD card as well.

I have a 200gb micro SD card filled with music, movies, TV shows, tons of family pics, and still have 80gb free

So yeah I have to be more conscious about the 32 GB, but definitely not a deal breaker

This is the problem for me, its mid 2017 and for me any flagship phone should have 64 GB of storage. My 2014 flagship came with 32 GBs. This is LGs main problem in 2017 - they cheap out. The G6 would be a major seller in the US if they had released the phone with the same specs as the Asian model. I know people in the forum keep using the excuse for low sales saying people don't look at specs - just the name. I disagree, people can easily see a phone that can has 1/2 the storage of another phone.

Android needs to have open space in its main storage. I do not want to have to keep cleaning up my phone to keep 3-4 GB free. Apps do not do well on SD cards. SD cards are great for media, photos and app associated storage. If you only run a few apps on your phone then 32 GB I guess is fine for you. Not for me, more important its 2017 flagships Android phones have 64 GB of storage.

I honestly felt that even if they were going with the S821 chip, the G6+ should have been the G6. Just release one phone globally with the good DAC, Qi and 64GB storage. Then market the hell of it it.

Sucks because this is such a strong device.. Even with the "old chipset" it's neck and neck with the other phones in daily use. Plus the Pixel still out performs newer devices with the same chip. Lol

The resistance, movement, cause or whatever you want to call it to maintain relevance of removable batteries is smaller than you think. I don't think the removable battery vs non removable battery is enough to tank a device.

However, if a battery is non-removable and deemed substandard for a day's use, then yeah it could significantly hurt sales.
Since LG is the last major manufacturer to offer a removable battery if that is a must feature more users would gravitate toward LG. With its last advantage gone LG itself may dump its phone division

To be fair though .. While that is a good idea the other party would have to agree to let LG use that song and also be apart of it. For all we know they could have tried but been denied.

That was merely one idea I suggested as an example in the three I gave. My point is the same: they needed to do some type of marketing showcasing using the phone and the strengths of the phone.

Yeah I am sure there are many reasons.. If any come to mind for me it is mainly budget on advertising. When it first came out I saw multiple commercials about it.

LG is a being enough mobile division in a conglomerate. That's not an excuse to me. If they had enough money to get out demo unit to reviewers, especially those with YouTube channels, they can do it.

What is cheaper: funding an ad campaign or writing off inventory that was unsold?

Well while it may not be a good enough excuse for you it still could be the case. Unless we have someone on the inside of LG it is really hard to say what the exact issue is. All I am saying is at the time of release I plenty of LG commercials on TV.

Oh, I agree...it's not as easy as I'm making it sound. I saw a few ads when the G5, V20 and G6 launched for the like the first few weeks and then poof! That's why LG pays people good money to figure this out. I'm not the one who has to cell phones here.

For me, it doesn't matter what the reason is, as long as they end up correcting the issue. For LG's sake - as I do think they make good products - it would be helpful for them to break this string of selling G series phones lower than expectations since the G2.

Both Samsung and LG had problems. Samsung with the Note 7 fiasco and LG with the bootloop fiasco. It's just that Samsung handled the problem better. Samsung took a big hit and just recalled the Note 7 while LG users had problems claiming warranty.

The difference in your example is that Samsung didn't have a choice because it was a safety issue. If it wasn't a safety issue they still might have been compelled to react because they sell a lot more phones and stood to lose a lot by not taking care of the problem.

There were quite a bit more LG commercials and even a few Youtube ads.. as soon as the S8 released it was a FLOOD.. All I saw were Pixel commercials/ads and S8 commercials/ads...

I haven't seen many G6 ones lately, sadly. :-/

Yeah lately it has calmed down a ton. Verizon has just been pushing the Pixel commercials hard due to the discount on it right now.

Samsung is pushing because .. well .. Samsung :P.
