LG G6 a flop? Low sales?

People could always choose to not support the duopoly, by not buying Apple or Samsung phones. That is what I do.
If LG does not want a doupoly they should release more competitive phones. Keeping the good features reserved for Asia was a bad decision and they pay the price. Also if LG had waited six weeks they could have had 835s. HTC found a supply for the 11. A few weeks did not make a big difference in sales. Samsung had already frozen the market when they announced the S8. LG is paying the price for rushing to the market.

BTW, I am not attacking those who like the G6 features. I am giving my opinion and my reasons for not being interested in the G6.

Is L6 a new model?

its sad to know this my g5 is running like a breeze i still have my g3 with i was planing to upgrade both with g6

Honestly not surprised by the low sales. Imo, LG released an okay phone with outdated specs, saved their best features for other country exclusives, it came on the heels of terrible boot loop issues. and their marketing was abysmal.

There is such a small number of people (people like us) who are actually concerned with specs, I don't think it plays a part in big sales numbers. I think this because I've never heard a consumer in a retail environment ask about the processor/ram.

Here is your average consumer checklist: (not in order of importance)

1. takes nice pictures
2. has good battery
3. has adequate storage
4. has nice screen
5. is on sale

Well, one might say, "There are over 20 different android phones that fit the bill...but, what do people want? What do they see on TV? What do they see their friends and co-workers with?"

The SD821 performs just fine in this device and the 32GB combined with microSD is manageable for most.
Marketing is the main culprit as others have stated.

And by the outdated specs you mean on sp821 ? What else camera maybe ? But from what i saw so far in ( lg g6 show us your picture camera is pretty good ) And beside most of the people as myself will probably move on the new phone after 2 years of contract maybe even sooner. But this phone can still perform disently in the next 2 year so... If you are hardcore smartphone gamer than maybe in the future sp821 would be a problem but beside that i don't see why you should not buy it. It's a great phone and i'm enoying every second of it.

I agree. Most consumers don't know what is in their phone. The only spec most consumers may know is the storage size.

My wife loves her G6, and I've kicked around the idea of getting one, but I think I'm holding out for the V30. The battery in my Droid Turbo has recently started to act funny, but should be able to get me through another couple of months.

That said, the G6 not selling well probably has some to do with previous LG issues, but more to do with marketing against the gorilla in the room. Most consumers think Samsung is synonymous with Android. Google has the name to push the Pixel (but can take a small hit regardless). LG may make a great phone, but if no one knows it's great, they won't buy it.

My wife told a neighbor what phone she has the other day (after they commented that the photos she's posted on social media looked great), and they literally said they didn't know LG still made phones.

I totally agree.
And I'm just going to throw this out there because it's always bothered me:

LG has one of the ugliest logos out there.

It may seem silly and superficial, but image and branding plays an enormous part in marketing. What exactly is the average consumer's impression of LG, with its weird Picasso-esque face and cryptic "Life's Good" slogan? People KNOW Samsung on sight. People know roughly what to expect from companies like Samsung and Apple and Moto (no matter who owns them) and HTC as far as design and quality go...for better or worse. LG always has been sort of tough to pin down.

I honestly don't understand why people who don't even atend to use the G6 keep posting here about how bad the phone is how better the S8 is and the g6 is not.. I don't know the G6 obv sucks but all the battles i see online on yt and something like that are between the g6 and s8, there is nothing about s8 vs ip7, u11, op5, p10.. So i would say idk that the g6 is with "outdated" specs better than the rest of 2017 flagahips ?

Beside the so called s8. But idk, if you don't use the phone, you don't own the phone, don't like the lg as company. My question is why are you wasting your time in here ? I came here to share my experience with g6 owners, users, lovers and not "haters" of the phone and company itself. Sooo this is just objective question not for some individuals. However their marketing for the g6 is/was bad, they are still one of the biggest company in the world, obv with some reasons.

Haha I couldn't agree more. Maybe it's like a Porsche owner going to a BMW forum and saying how crappy BMWs are?

No but srsly mate. And before i say something brofist 😁

Here in croatia on our forum the other day guy posted on lg title, can someone recommend the case for huawei mate something, and the admin quoted him with no because you are not in the correct "room" stay on topic.. Srsly this is the G6 forum and most of the time i read about S8... Here you get few penalties and bam bann, if you came to porsche forum then dammit you won't talk about bmw, although i preffer mercedes. 😁

I mean okay, but the topic is g6 and should stay g6, not g6 and his competion friends.

Don't misunderstand me. I own a G6. I chose a G6 over the S8 and I'm completely happy with my choice. I don't know if you were referring to me, but I was merely explaining the problems that LG has with marketing this solid device.

No mate im referring objectivly... Wasn't reffering on you, and i seriously didn't came here to troll or insult anyone like some people here taught. But i just can't deny the fact that here there are opened planty topics and in every of them, almost every second comment is about how lg sucks, and s8 is better with his sp835.. Okay but topic is g6 and g6 only should be in the comments. And seperated topic with g6 vs. Idk whatever.

If you look at thread subject it lends itself to open the discussion as to why it may not be a sales hit. That would include talking about competive models. Of course sometimes that can lead to model bashing in all directions. As long as the thread doesn't to go to far off topic anything is truly fair game in my book. Me, myself, I try not to bash the products I won't buy but I will tell the reasons why.

Because the thread is about low G6 sales so people are offering their opinions as to why since there is no concrete evidence as to why.

Also on this forum we allow people to post anywhere -- as long as they're respectful and relevant to the discussion. We don't say "Nope sorry you can't post in the G6, Samsung, Moto, etc. area because you don't currently have that phone" since they wouldn't be very welcoming and also just because someone may have not had the phone now doesn't mean they didn't at one point. Hell they could even be considering getting one.. You never know.

That's fine the forums you visit are that strict -- we aren't. We like discussions and posting as long as people aren't jerks about it :).

Well put, Mike :). This exactly. It is hard to compare why sale numbers are down if you aren't looking at the industry as a whole to compare and see what could be done better, etc. etc.

Well toldya my country sucks... hhaaha then okay..

Well I wasn't saying that -- Just saying we aren't that strict. Now if someone did come in here and make a "Where can I get the best charger for my S8?" I would move it over to the S8 area since it is obviously very out of place here. The topic at hand though calls in looking at competitors to see what LG should / shouldn't do to help them out. You can't discuss it otherwise TBH. Have to compare who is doing what and how to do outdo them to get your point across.

Such as earlier we talked about them advertising more. I did see tons of G6 stuff at release (TV, internet, etc.) but after that it faded away so it wasn't shoved in the consumers face as much. That could very well be a factor since Samsung / Apple / Google keep the ads going even long after release to keep reminding consumers to buy their phones.

Thanks....I guess we were posting around the same because I didn't see yours....well said also and to the point.
