LG Nexus

The "Carphone Warehouse" confirms the existence of a LG Nexus 4, which will be available in black and white: 'LG Nexus 4' spotted in Carphone Warehouse inventory system | Android Central

I'm very excited about this phone and do not care that it's mady by LG. I bought the LG 4x HD in August but returned it, when the first rumors of the new nexus phones appeared on the internet only days after getting the 4x.

Smart man

It cost $400 on the Play Store

Yes, but don't forget. The Galaxy Nexus was originally released in November 2011. The Play Store version wasn't available until April 2012. So the original Play Store price was for a 5-month old device and isn't necessarily indicative of the release day price.

The play store initiative took awhile to get things setup after the gnex launched. Hoping things will be ready almost immediately this time after the nexus announcement. Would be good for the holiday shopping season hehe. Anyway I'm thinking it will cost around the price of the nexus one and nexus s when launched, so around 550. Seems reasonable to me. No way it will cost 400. I don't want it to cost 400, that would mean they left out some stuff. I would pay more than for more flash storage though.

Good thing it may be released in white version. My mom and my gf will complain less when I force them to having it:) of course as long as VZW gets it.... no more TMo....

My HTC Amaze is a piece of crap. And I hear more and more anecdotes of problems with One S and One X (guy at work can make the WiFi fail by flexing the case a little). Please, not an HTC, no.

I like the build quality of HTC. I have had no problems with the build. The only problems I had with my HTC phone have all been software based. Personally I they just removed Sense it would run a whole lot better on Stock Android.

I am going to give me opinion on this LG Nexus phone and this is coming from a perceptive of someone who sells phones for a living at VZW.

Everything LG has ever put out quality wise is always below every other manufacturer. Their phones are cheap plastic and there is ALWAYS battery problems. There's never accessories made for them as well and that's a disappointment even though we are use to it by now especially with the N7. LG phones come in on a daily basis more than any other phone when it comes to problems and the only reason there should be ANY excitement is, Because its a Nexus phone. I feel like HTC is the only one who can make a fantastic phone all around. When i say all around, I am talking about camera, screen quality, reliability and most of all build quality. The Galaxy Nexus build quality is pathetic and the camera falls in line as well in terms of disappointment. The Battery life is a complete joke even with the extended battery. The fact that there is no MicroSD slot is another dealbreaker. The accessories are lacking and even the screen isn't as decent compared to the current S3, One X and even motorola's new screen on the RAZR HD. I would rather buy a better phone and root it and put my own crap on there.

Simply put, I want to see Motorola or HTC make the next nexus phone, Because LG would be my last choice. I just hope HTC can fix their Battery, WIFI and expandable storage issues and Motorola can fix their god awful camera and non removable battery.

^^^^
Your wrong

I'm own an lg optimus s best set of devs ever, excellent battery life, and top all off 600 MHz but guess what? Running all versions off cyanogenmod 7 and above

So if this LG Nexus is the real deal, will I be able to buy a Sprint version (US CDMA) directly from the Play Store or does the Play Store only offer GSM devices?

Also, can I see the hardware (phone/tablet) of the Play Store on my Nexus 7s Play App? I haven't seen it...

Thanks

I noticed that on the current generation of Nexus phones that Google only sold a GSM device directly:

"Galaxy Nexus phones from devices on Google Play will work on AT&T and T-Mobile, but not Verizon or Sprint"

Why didn't they sell a CDMA version ?

Google Play sells only GSM version and they will not sell a CDMA version. At least chances for that are very very slim.

So you will need to wait another 2 or so months from the official release until VZW and Sprint get them, as long as they get them at all. There are rumors around that VZW is not getting it.

Because carriers, Sprint for instance, may block it from being activated with them. CDMA is an old technology, nobody likes it, including Google.

CDMA carriers use a database to know what devices can be activated on their networks. If you actually ready about CDMA vs. GSM, you'll find that CDMA is actually better for end customers for quality voice service. IIRC, CDMA technology has been around since World War 2. Yes, its old. That doesn't make it bad.

It is bad. For instance VZW doesn't work well in basements. That's why I went with a GSM phone because I occupied a basement unit in Chicago and VZW had no coverage there.

By the way by 2014 VZW is going to finish covering the entire country with LTE transmitters and then they will launch VoLTE and disable CDMA....

Oh where do I start....

Your basement coverage is dependent on many things. The biggest being that you're underground.

CDMA will be around for a while. A long while. It's not going away in 2014.

LOL.

I hope you know that you can't really say what is a better technology because you couldn't get service in a basement.

Curious, did you try a Verizon LTE phone down there too?

In my building, Verizon customers get service throughout. AT&T customers rely on micro cells all over the place. T-Mobile customers have to go outside to use their phones.

That doesn't tell me that CDMA is better than GSM. It tells me Verizon has better coverage.

Seriously, look up how CDMA splits up the signal. Look up how CDMA handles tower to tower transitions.

But please don't come back with a coverage argument.
