Re: Let's start a petition

I doubt we will see any more updates except maybe a maintenance release. I am dumping my OG for a Nexus 5.

Re: Let's start a petition

Count me in! I also want an update to 4.4 on my G.

Re: Let's start a petition

Last update was 4.2.2, right? LG's stance on the matter is that the carriers must request the update from them.

Re: Let's start a petition

No it was 4.1.2 , 4.2.2 was the G 2 I believe

Count me in! This is long overdue for such a popular and powerful phone from LG.

I know that I have given up on hope that LG would do the right thing with this phone. A phone this powerful and still relatively new on Android 4.1.2? It's really a shame. A user mentioned something about LG "learning something" from the G2. If they learned anything it's that they can treat previous model phone owners however they like, and with right advertising still sell a zillion units of a new phone. Most of the US G2s are still on Jellybean as this is being typed. The G3 is supposed to drop soon. I would bet money G2 users will see that one KitKat upgrade then be left to rot just like OG owners.
Sad part is, where do you turn? The story of the LGOG is very similar to that of the HTC Thunderbolt. Motorola has a terrible reputation of pumping out dozens of models a year and supporting very few.
I fully support the intent of this thread. I suppose if there had been an outcry on a level much larger than this forum could've supported LG would've had to address the issue. The fact of the matter is, if you're reading this you're probably a phone enthusiast on some level. We are the small minority. The overwhelming majority of phone customers don't really care about their Android version. They don't watch the calendar for their upgrade date like a ten year old approaching Christmas. They just use a phone until it's too beat up or too old to play the latest fad game then turn it in.
I am due for an upgrade in a few weeks. my next phone will be selected on specs alone. The quality of the hardware will determine my handset then I will root it and handle the upgrades myself (with help of fellow phone enthusiasts who develop Android software)

Count me in as well. LG OPTIMUS G is a very nice, high end phone but the company politics are killing my vibe.

I sold my LGOG yesterday. Moved to Nexus 5 so I don't have to deal with manufactures that abandon a device six months after it hits the streets.

I know this thread is old but LG is releasing 4.4.2 for the Korean OG. They WILL release it worldwide soon hopefully.

LG IS releasing KitKat this month, can't wait!

The real reason I want, no need, something newer than 4.1.2 is my new fitbit one. LGOG was on the the list of compatible devices but I glossed over the 4.4.2+ in parens. I have the latest OTA version available it should work. Right? Apparently not, I can take only sync with that windows machine that gets turned on the maybe once a week now.
Come on LG. This hardware has the legs. Give me 4.4.2 and this phone is good till I drop it again. Otherwise I'm looking for something more compatible. And by the way ATT, who has a lot of pull on this topic. if I have to switch phones might as well look into switching carriers while I'm at it.

OK so uh I don't want to be included in the petition, but can someone tell me when kitKat is out? My phone has a messed up bootloader. Cwm installed incorrectly. I found a way to fix it... I haven't done it yet though.. I know kit Kat is coming out from various sources.
