LG Optimus L9 sudden battery drain

LG Optimus L9, battery drains like hell permanently (also standby).

The phone was bought six months ago, battery fine. The issue suddenly occurred from one day to the other a few weeks ago.

Now it only lasts for like 7 hours on standby, even less when in use. Maybe 4 or 5.

I have tried all that Wifi, GPS, Flight mode, sync bla bla.
Nothing.

Battery calibration: no.

Factory reset: Nothing.

Flashing new firmware, also without gapps, (now CyanogenMod 10.2.1 + gapps, I like ), but: nope.

I just don't wanna have to buy a new battery after only a half year.
Or maybe a way to check the real battery health would help.
I'm a bit overwhelmed with all different diagnose- and repair apps. To me, most of them seem like useless crap.

Please help me with this incredibly annoying thing, I'm running out of ideas here.

Greets, P

Welcome to Android Central! To get a better idea of what is using your battery, do the following:

Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Also, remember that defective batteries can fail at any time. How do you know that your battery is fine? Fast drain is often a sign of a failing battery. A confirmatory test would be to remove the battery, lay it flat on a table, and try to spin it. If it spins freely, it's bulging in the middle, which is a bad sign. But lack of spinning doesn't rule it out--it's still worth trying a new battery.

Thank you for your quick answer!

I tried to attach screenshots, but couldn't since I'm newly registered..

I checked and it's not spinning, but I found a thin line of deformation along the long side of the battery, so I guess the thing is just broken.
After all the things I've tried, like I described above, I already thought it must be. Good thing is i like the custom ROM I installed to find out about the cause of the issue.

I'm just gonna buy a new battery, and the better news is that I found one for only € 11. So it's really not as bad as I thought.

Thank you!

I have an L90 and it started using the battery in just over a day...rather than about three days. I tried swapping the battery with my wife'L90 and the problem went away. I think just taking it out and putting it back in cleared the issue. Both phones are fine again.
