Try SMS backup and restore, continues to work great for me and available for Free on Google Playstation.

On my LG G3, I go to Settings, Backup and Reset, and at the top is LG Backup (also an app to download to a non-LG)...it can copy direct from old phone to new, or to a SD card. It's a pretty thorough backup/restore. I use it only to back up my home screens...I create a lot of folders! My data comes from Verizon Cloud, and actual apps restore from my Gmail Account setup during Setup Wizard. I am hoping it is the same.
