The end of the year is long way away.

That's potentially a little less then 3 months away, and that's when LG will have it ready. How long after that until carriers roll it out? Especially in Canada where it always takes even longer.

This confirms my suspicions. Not worried about my carrier taking too long. Three Mobile UK are usually pretty quick when it comes to OTA updates. Also, wont have too wait that long to try Lollipop as i have a Nexus 5 gathering dust in a draw somewhere.
