LG V20 and Removable Batteries

Just a side note, went in to Verizon to check for extra battery and cradle , they don't carry them. I know cheaper on line, but that surprised me. I'm old and don't buy everything on line. Guess with this I will lol. Oh yeah my best buy didn't have them either

I've used the replaceable battery on my Note 4 more than any other previous phone, with its big screen and 4G I find it can burn through the battery quickly and I find it great when I run out of power unexpectedly just being able to chuck in a spare battery and back to full power. As the phone is now approaching three years old its original battery performance has degraded but it now has a nice new battery that's working great.

It does look like I'm going to have to compromise with my next phone which is frustrating as I feel like I'm losing a major advantage, I can mitigate the swapping batteries by using quick charge but given there's not much change in phones these days there's a good chance there will be no reason to change my next phone so it will need to last a while and I won't be able to change the battery which is my main concern. As it is, I'm not seeing much incentive to upgrade my Note 4 as it has a great screen, great camera and still runs great.

I use the Note 5 as my daily phone. I use my Note 4 to cast movies to my TV and as an infrared remote. Honestly, don't know which phone I prefer. With an external charger I formerly rotated 4 batteries. Even with a case I could replace the battery in 30 seconds and be up and running within 2 minutes. Pulling the battery extricated me from miscellaneous problems a number of times.

On the other hand, the Note 5 fits very nicely in the hand. (Bad pun wholly intentional.)

I won't buy a phone without a replaceable battery or accept an additional SD card. I never know when I will replace my V20 but without those features I may need to keep it for a long time.

Do you thin the V30 will follow suit?

I really do hope so. The V series was designed for the "pro" users and is supposed to be versatile. But chances are they might since the majority of people don't use it. Same thing with the IR blaster. If that's the case I'm keeping my V20 for 3 years.

I use to miss the removable batteries more then i do now.
Probably because my last 6 phones have had sealed batteries
It was nice to be able to replace the battery if needed . I never carried an extra battery with me when I had a phone with removable battery.
But at home and not having time to recharge the battery that was in the phone was nice to just replace it with the fully charged battery before heading back out.
So far for me I haven't had any need to have a sealed phones battery replaced, and with the quick charge it doesn't take long to recharge it back up.
I guess I'm kinda indifferent between sealed batteries or removable batteries at this time :)

Have you ever had to leave the house and found out your battery is dead? Happens every Friday and Saturday night after a long day of heavy use and it's time for me to head out.

Yeah that's why I mentioned once home and not having time to charge a phone with a removable battery that's when I swapped it out with a charged battery. :)

But I never carried a spare battery in my pocket or car with that phone.

The sealed phone it charges fast with quick charging and if its low on power , I plug it in once home. By the time I'm ready to head out again its got enough power so I'm good to go again :)

Nope, you're not the only guy....I like them for the reasons mentioned above.

Im with you. I switched to LG for the battery removal option.Am super happy that LG put the volume on the side for the V20 :D. I do the same thing, i dont have time to stop sometimes to have my phone leashed to a wall or my PC. I have a 2nd battery and a charger that i bought off amazon and when my phone gets low I just swap them out. So simple. Also rotating batteries has a beneficial effect on the life of the battery itself.

Not usually no -- I charge at night before bed most days. If I don't -- I plug in via my car charger and don't think twice about it ;).

He said if you want a flagship in 2017 you don't have the option of removable batteries. I'm saying you can get the V20 in 2017. The V20 was released in the 4th quarter of 2016 so I'm not going to let a few months knock it out as a viable option.

I meant to say that if you wanted a flagship that came out in 2017, but many people have since responded to address the mistake.

No... I'm always aware of how much battery I have.

I'm not sure what difference it truly makes if a phone is released at the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017. The V20 is a current offering. I suppose one could make an argument that it doesn't have an 821 or 835 processor but so what.

For me, the removable battery is a prime factor. I always install extended batteries in my phones. For instance, my current battery lasts two days without needing a charge. I actually switched to the V10 because Sammy sealed the battery in their Notes. I've been happy ever since. Hopefully, LG will continue with the removable battery in the V series.

I might get the Mugen battery that also support NFC. The only drawback it's a hard plastic back so it does not offer any protection. They claim to be making a case for it but not sure if it will replace the back or go over it. The latter would be bulky. If Zerolemon would add NFC it would be a no brainer.

See you're always attached to a wire one way or another. Portable battery pack and a wire sticking out your pocket. Or plugged into the wall charger while using your phone (bad to use your phone while charging anyway, overheats).
