LG v20 or LG G6?

By the way, I'm sticking with my V20, it still is impressive with all the features it has. A removable battery and an IR blaster is a privilege nowdays (even an SD card slot!), before it was standard. Don't say we don't need it, that's what Apple said about the headphone jack.

Quad DAC rules!

This is all I think of everytime I read the model name

You guys wanna know what my only annoyance is with my V20?? I accidentally press the volume buttons every damn day!! So....damn...annoying! Why oh why did they move them from the back where I never accidentally pressed them?!?!? I practically blast my ears everyday or I don't hear my phone ringing because I accidentally pressed these damn buttons!!

So I went with a Mint Condition V20 on Swappa. The size is bigger than I'm used to, but I guess I will get used to it. I chose the V20 because I have a G5 and I love it, but I wanted something more complete with a bigger battery. As much as the G6 looks awesome, I can't imagine I'll be unhappy with the V20 and I can't justify it right now to buy the 6 outright. Something pulled me to the V20 more.

I was waiting on the release of the G6, before I decided. The G6 will be a great phone but the loss of the IR blaster, and a glass build pushed me towards the V20. It also helped that AT&T was having a half off deal for the V20 and I had an upgrade available to replace my Note 5. I love the metal build, the display is great, not Note 5 levels but still, and it doesn't feel unruly in the hands like a 6P.

No reason to jump to the G6 from V20 unless there are features that you want that the V20 doesn't have. I won't give up the DAC, 64 GB memory, removable battery. The IR blaster is also handy but not a must have for me.

There are two things that concern me about the G6 vs. the V20:

1) 32GB internal storage vs. 64GB ... I love that on my V20 I don't really have to rely on my SD card for photo, music, storage, etc. Internal storage is more stable, and better supported by all apps without them having to properly implement the newer SD security API.

2) There have been a few times with my V20 where the FPS/home button has stopped working and the issue is quickly resolved by removing the battery. (Note that the last time this happened I experimented by holding the button for a long time and managed to get the software to again respond...?) If the battery is sealed, and LG uses the same button handling software... what do you do if the same glitch shows up? I know that this is a software issue, so maybe it will be resolved by LG in the G6.

Wise decision. Buy the extra battery and battery cradle for the spare battery if you can afford to. If you are not watching movies on your phone all day, you won't need to swap often but its wonderful to know that you can go from 0% to 100% in a few mins by swapping out batteries. This was also the biggest phone that I have ever used and it took me a few weeks to get used to the size.

Of course V20! Quad DAC is so amazing, but one thing disturbs my mind here is G6 an another flaghship of LG? Because I read somewhere that G6 price is not lower than V20. If it's true, how could two flaghship competes each other?

Even if they are the same price they serve two different markets.

Can't live without the removable battery. I do like the better cameras though but I also like my second screen.

Not liking that they went 13 megapixel though I suppose the wide angle camera is better now.

Yeah. But look at the pixels camera. It's a 12 megapixel camera but supposedly is the highest ranked camera in a smartphone so higher megapixels doesn't always mean better camera.

Glad to see you, Mike,.. Yup,I got it. Two different markets for two customer groups. Interesting to see what happens in next 3-6 months for G6 in which V20 shows up earlier to the market. Whoever is better (I hope V20, lol), smartphone user is the winner with its own device, :)

Higher megapixel sensors have some distinct advantages assuming we are talking the same physical size sensor, however there are some tradeoffs. Most of the differences we are seeing in camera performance is not so much related to the sensor as it is to how the rest of the hardware and software interact with it.
