Re: New V30 render... Might not get it. What do you think?

If not LG, then some other manufacture will bank on this. My friend is hanging on to his Note 4 for his dear life. He said he doesn't know if he'll ever upgrade. Funny thing is he already owns newer smartphones as he's a Samsung phone collector, but uses the Note 4 for it's removable battery. People loved that design: big screen, simple flat glass with removable battery. The Note 4 was a fan favorite, no one cared for the Note 5.
The Note 4 was to date the best Android phone ever built imo. All it needed were updates to the camera, ram, processor etc to keep it up to date. I loved the tough plastic, flat screen, 16/9 ratio, sd card slot, removable battery, multicolor led notifications you could actually control, I loved it all. Just needed to add the Samsung Qi wireless charging back cover and it was superb. People wanted pretty glass. They got it.

The best phone for me today is the V20. With 18/9 on the way I doubt I will have any interest in the V30

Same here. The Note 4 was great! Don't forget the metal bezels, made it feel much more premium however still kept the removable back, simply amazing. However rumor has it, Samsung is rolling out updates that's killing off the Note 4 with it's laggy update...

Ya, as an everyday phone you'd almost have to root it (if possible) and try some of the available custom roms. I'm not a gamer so the processor is ok but the lag is unbearable and battery life sucks.

I think all Samsung phones lag. It gets worse with time. It's the price you pay for a pretty phone with nice features.

The more I think about it the more I think my next phone may be an iPhone. All the things I loved about Android as disappearing.

Looks great but other than that....no dice until I see what's under the hood and it may not be enough to go to a glass phone that I would just end putting in a case. Putting it in case is just pointless if you buy it for looks. Maybe they should just make glass cases for rugged phones....lol

... Or removable back that's made of glass! But then again, might be too dangerous because it can shatter and cause injury... There's no material that can match the smoothness of glass...

I don't want any phone with glass back. It's stupid beyond belief. Pretty, pretty.... oops. Because I want wireless charging the only logical choice is plastic. I'm going to cover the glass with a damn plastic case anyway!

It's not even that pretty. It's shiny, but it's kinda garish and likely to be covered in fingerprints, cracks, scratches, etc. IMO several soft touch plastic devices and almost all metal devices look much better.

Re: LG V30 ditching 2nd screen

I don't care about the second screen, but the glass back sorta makes me grumpy.

Re: LG V30 ditching 2nd screen

I really care about 2nd screen and removable battery. I guess I'll be using v20 for awhile.

Re: LG V30 ditching 2nd screen

About time. Second screens are such a gimmick. Honestly they should just told the V series into the G line up and make two models similar to what Samsung does. It will be easier to market.

Ditto. However there's no way they can make an AMOLED 2nd screen due to burn in. Unless they did half AMOLED and half LCD, I could imagine it looking strange and be a hassle. Will probably hang on to the V20 for a while.

Removable batteries was why people picked the V20 in the first place. Not much else that's great about LG besides having a smooth OS and wide angle. If I wanted an excellent phone, I would've picked Samsung no doubt.

Metal FTW, especially with that matte finish. Used to love the HTC M series, and Apple's designs were great. Sure metal can dent but it won't crack so easily. Don't want to Shell out $900+ for a phone that's made of all glass, heck I'd rather go with rubberized plastic.

Also glass scratches very easily, now I have to get 2 screen protectors for the front AND back?? Dust/dirt will get in-between the case and glass and will lightly scratch the glass overtime.

I ranked the V20 better than the S7 (available at the time) overall. Flat screen, better build materials, better audip and more updated hardware. The S7 does have a much better display and a marginally better camera, but both sorta equal of software and security, so things most important to me, V20 is slightly ahead. And that's without considering the battery being removable.

Re: LG V30 ditching 2nd screen

I had the V10 and V20, I will still get the V30 if it doesn't do the narrow 2:1 ratio

If it is the narrow 2:1 and does not have a 2nd screen, then it is basically a remake of the G6

At least the edges aren't curved.

Re: New V30 render... Might not get it. What do you think?

Nobody has built a phone with a battery that big. I doubt LG will. Maybe 3400 if we're lucky
No one that makes flagship devices that matter in the US and no one that even pretends to take privacy and security seriously.
