lg vortex stuck on lg screen

someone help my lg vortex is stuck on the lg screen because i downloaded a rom for a different phone and i really need to know how to undo it can someone help me out?

Do you have a CWM Recovery? The problem is that there is not a lot of info on the Vortex at the moment.

You may want to post in the LG forums at xda-developers and see what advice they have.

do you really think they can help cause i went on theyre site and it seems like they just do average problems like storage space and freezing stuff like that this is a human error my dumb ass downloaded the wrong rom

Don,t get so excited. People do have to work, and the majority of people live in the states and are just now waking up!

CWM, is a device boot recovery that people use to do recovery backups, flash roms and the likes. most devices are able to flash this usually after rooting. depends on the device. it,s known as clockworkmod.

As I said, not a whole lot of info out there on your vortex, so options are limited. but what I have found, is that after you rooted, you should have installed a custom recovery as your next step, BEFORE even thinking about flashing a rom. Otherwise, in most normal cases, it can't be done without using pc based software.

For your device, you should have installed Vortex/Thunderc-vzw as your recovery.

If so, you should boot your device into the custom recovery, then,

1. wipe user data/factrory reset
2. wipe cache
3. wipe dalvik cache

now you have 2 options,

you can flash/restore your recovery image you made before you flashed the incorrect rom, at least I hope you made one

or

flash the correct rom for your device.

looks like they have some folks who may have some experience.

My thoughts, are you may have soft-bricked your device, maybe worse. Especially depending on what rom you tried to install. Usually you can get this back. Sometimes not.

XDA has several forums. As I told you, the one you're interested in, is the android development. Yeah, they're tons of threads.

Try the above link. I think the steps I told you, are pretty common in your case, so boot to your recovery and try them.

thanks alot man just one last question how do you flash a rom with out your phone operaiting?

Phones are different, so they have different methods. I own an HTC and an Acer, so I don't know the method for the Vortex. You should post that question in the forum for that link I sent you. They have a dedicated Vortex forum.

Sorry I can't answer this one! But hope you get it running.

For a lot of devices, it's Power Off. Then holding a specific key combination. For most HTC's and Acer, it's hold the Vol - then press and hold the Power button till it boots to the Recovery. But I have no idea what the combination is for the Vortex.

Key combo to boot custom recovery from powered off is vol_down + home + power and release keys at LG splash.
