Life after 6P...whats next?

Can't you load Google Maps on the iPhone?
Or are you saying that if you try to use Apple Carplay (or whatever it's called) it'll only use the Apple maps application?

Second...When using Maps on Apple carplay it is locked to use Apple maps only. On Android auto it uses Google maps not sure if it's also locked I should try it.

I've come to the realization that as much as I love my 6P screen, I think the phone is just too big and considering a 5". Anyone else with a 6P and other 5" androids (iPhone 4.7 is way too small) that prefer the smaller form? I have big thumbs so I can appreciate the typing on 6P, otherwise I could see myself going smaller (last 2 devices were G4 and S6). Phablet is nice but this phone is too big for single hand use.

Moved to the Mate 9 what a great phone very much underrated. Battery life almost triple what i got on my Nexus 6P average 8-10 hours

How is the camera image quality in low light relative to 6P. I heard it isn't that great in general. That battery life is so tempting though. At the same time it is 1080p screen. A lot of trade offs. Plus it is huge.

Sounds like you should wait for the Pixel 2 then. Apple and Samsung seem to be going the mega size route.

Definitely waiting for pixel 2, just curious if it should be XL or regular size. I'm not sure how much I dig the taller display on G6 and expected S8.

The camera for me is great better than the 6P also the 6P feels bigger and look's bigger in the hand. You wouldn't know the Mate 9 has. 5.9" screen as it feels so small in the hand. 1080p screen is brilliant for me i really don't need QHD and i don't see the difference between my 6P and my Mate 9 if it put them side by side. My biggest concern was EMUI coming from stock android and this strange but i actually prefer it now it has some very useful features you wouldn't think you need untill you start using them. This is my last charge with heavy usage.

Sounds like you'd want the smaller. One thing Pixel did was equalling spec the phone. Apple usually gimps the smaller one somehow and their won't be a small size and I have no idea what Sony is doing since they made full specced smaller screen phones.

Hmmmmm. Still don't know if I trust what the Chinese are doing with my private data. How are the low light pictures? You have any? That 4,000 mAh should've been standard on all 2017 phablets. You find cases for it easy?

I have the exact same concerns about the Chinese manufacturers and them having full access to my data. I'm sure on most ways it's safe but a thought in the back of my head.

I will see if i can get some low light pictures and post it. I don't really have any issues with Chinese manufacturers and data to be honest they are no worse than US EU or other Asian tech firm's. NSA, CIA and GCHQ all have some access to your US and EU tech firm's data. If you truly have concerns about data you have to get a dumb phone.

While I'm sure there's data mining by all companies to some extent, I get a feeling the maker of our 6P just makes me uneasy..

This really doesn't prove anything when we know for a fact US EU is doing exactly the same thing

I've had identity theft and it is a PITA. I would rather not risk opening myself up to it unnecessarily if I don't have too. It's not just about selling my data to marketing firms to know my preferences or law enforcement monitoring my activity.

Anyone jumping ship for S8?
I haven't read everything about it yet but what struck me so far:
- the battery capacity seems a bit underwhelming
- same camera sensor as the last model? WTH!

Ok going off topic

Anyone jumping ship for S8?
Nope. Still enjoying the 6P. I'll keep using it at least until Pixel 2 unless it dies. If it dies before Pixel 2 is available I'll get a midnight black OnePlus 3T.

I agree that the battery is too small and I don't have enough reason to leave my 6P just yet. It's a nice looking device, that screen with HDR support must look slick.
