Lift to check notifications

Hi, I currently have a Nexus 5x and really like the lift phone to see notifications feature. However I feel like it doesn't work so well as the phone has to be completely still or in the right orientation for the screen to come on. I briefly used an iPhone 6s and felt the lift to wake notification worked much better.

So now I'm trying to figure out if it is an Android software or general Nexus hardware issue.

How well does it work for you Pixel owners? I am particularly interested in the smaller version not XL.

Thanks for any input.

AFAIK, the Pixel and Pixel XL are IDENTICAL in every way, except for the size. That being said, I have an XL and I sometimes don't want the "lift to check" to activate if I'm getting up in the early hours when the bedroom is still dark. Once I grab my phone off my night table it lights up an otherwise dark room like it's dawn. :)

So yeah - it works great. Everytime.

Thanks. So the pixel lights up the whole screen? On the Nexus it will show it in black and white until I actually touch the screen.

Sorry, no, it's only black and white but it IS fairly bright in a pitch black room. You can then choose to double tap on your notifications to open them.

I know you want feedback on the smaller pixel but like @can3gxw said they are the same. This is the only smart feature I have turned off on my pixel xl. I didnt like too much. It can be a bit weird at times.

Thanks for the feedback. I know from a stand still like on a table it works well. But coming out of a pocket it can be hit or miss.

I have never had any problems coming out of my pocket either... it always just works. Plus the fingerprint scanner in the perfect spot on the back makes sure that it unlocks pretty much as fast as I grab it.
