I returned it to the Best Buy where I got it, and the fellow there kindly went through several other units to see if they had the same problem. He opened up I think three others, all of them had it. Even their demo unit had it. That said, all of these were the blue models, and their demo unit of the pink color did not have the problem as far as I could tell. I don't know anything about manufacturing this stuff, so I have no idea if that's coincidence or something about the colors that makes blue (or black?) more susceptible.

I decided I still want it, so I'll take my chances one more time and stick the thing in a case. Hopefully Samsung acknowledges it and maybe provides a remedy. I mean, it's not exploding or anything...

...yet.

I have a blue one and it's perfect. No light bleed. I know 3 others with blue ones and same. No light bleed. My wife's be here tomorrow although she got purple. I'll check it out tomorrow.

I believe there are multiple threads on this now. I have a blue 128GB version on T-Mobile and noticed light bleeding several hours into use, before I read about the issue anywhere else. It's on the left side by the volume rocker, and a bit about 4/5 of the way down, also on the left.

Not a huge deal and not always obvious, but knowing its there now you kinda can't unsee it. It can be slightly distracting.

This is a well known issue at least on this forum going back to the s8, note 8 and so plus. Samsung says its normal and it's just where light gets through the glue. I wouldn't worry about it

Yeah. Just accept poor design/quality on a device that’s $1000+

Are you guys such fanboys that you can’t admit that something like this should be unacceptable? Come on guys.

Are you a troll? No where did anyone here say it's acceptable and people are admitting to the issue, for those who have it. Did you even read this thread?

Almost every post is “oh it’s no big deal”.
What is it with phone forums where everyone who doesn’t agree 100% with you is a troll? I’ve been a member of these forums for years. I’m also in the process of ordering a Note 9. I just think any kind of defect on a phone that will cost me $1250 plus tax is unacceptable and I’m surprised that others don’t feel the same. If my Note has a light leak, it’s getting returned until I get one that doesn’t.
