It seems the same as what's described in the link in post #14. It may be that Samsung updated the stock Messaging app on your phone to the new version around that time.

Yep that's exactly what's happening. But it used to open the link directly in the browser with one tap. I never had to swipe down then back up. How do I get it back to the way it was??

Not sure if you can, unless maybe if you root the phone, uninstall the current Messaging app, and find an apk of the previous version. Unfortunately, that's beyond my scope of knowledge.
