My GPS works very good..Even as a test in my car..Google Maps if used needs constant updating maps so you would need WiFi constantly or the LTE unit.
In my case I use a GPS app called OsmAnd which you have a choice to download 10 free states in the US to your unit..It Then works without WiFi..
The OsmAnd to me has a bit unusual UI and takes getting used to but it does work and actually pretty accurate..About 10 feet from my drive way it says "You have reached your destination"
You also have to download the language audio also.
Almost as good as my two auto GPS units.

1. Can only get a location fix occasionally, at random times

2. Touch screen varies between being OK and being too sensitive and being too insensitive

3. Typing is an awful hassle. Takes me ten times longer than with a keyboard. Tried some highly rated typing/keyboard apps. They only made things worse. And it doesn't work with a bluetooth keyboard either.

Just got mine delivered yesterday from bestbuy and started noticing the touchscreen problems... either not doing anything when touching the screen or the accuracy is about a finger tip length off... read the thread on Google support forums so it looks like I will return it

Not sure if I want to start playing the find a product with no defects game so maybe I will just wait a couple of months and try again...

Also wondering if I should just get a galaxy note 3 instead of a nexus 7 and nexus 5. About the same price.

I had a 16gb Nexus 7 2013 originally with AWFUL ghost taps/double taps, fuzzy sounding speakers about a month or so ago.

Just bought a 32gb with LTE (Im in the UK) and so far I have neither issue.

I was running into this issue and figured it out. Your probably have a smart case and the lid is folded all the way back. If you open the flap or take the case off, you won't have that problem.

I do however have a fuzzy speaker and awful touchscreen issues. I can't return it to Office Depot either because they can't find my receipt! Insanity. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Here's my list of ongoing problems:

-Wifi completely gone after powering up and getting stuck in a bootloop. Had to do a hard reset. (see here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-7-tablet-2013/306730-wifi-stuck-turning.html#post3005067)

-Screen lock flicker:

I suspect it's the case that I have on it. It has a smart wake/sleep function, although I don't see why the magnet would be on the inside flap of the case and not where the flap closes on the case. Sometimes when I would hold the tablet tightly by its sides, the screen would suddenly turn off. Other times I would pick it up by its left bottom corner and the screen would turn off. I took it out of the case and that seemed to fix the problem.

-Powered up one time to see that Nova Launcher had completely reset itself and I had lost all of my customizations. Pissed me off but I fixed it.
-Sometimes there's a lag when coming back to the home screen from the app drawer. The widget I have on my home screen disappears but then comes back.
-Powered up today and was greeted by random forces closes: gapps, Currents, Gmail, Rhapsody etc.

I'm still not convinced to return it since I believe it to be a software issue. My tablet is not unusable and that's what matters to me.

The problem I notice is that the touch screen doesn't seem as sensitive as I think it should.

My only issue is that Chrome bogs down quite frequently. Every few hours of use, it starts to stutter and will barely scroll and get unresponsive when I do tap-and-holds on links. If I go into multitasking mode, swipe it off, then re-open, it usually clears up. This happens regardless of how many apps are running in the background.

Hmm, I have no troubles with any lag even when using Chrome straight for several hours with apps running in the background. Its as smooth as butter for me.

I haven't noticed any problem like that, but here's my question: whenever I open up a web page it asks me which browser I want to use, Chrome or opera at cetera and it gives me a choice of just this once or always, but whichever one of those two options I choose it will ask me it again the next time I open up a web page, no difference whether I chose always or just this once.

yea not fun!! no start up booklet.. power on and no start up menu. Simply takes me to a wi--fi connection, which does show my site.. but when clicked on does not offer a place to put in password.. although all other secured sites when clicked on DO.. Also.. NO set up /menu showing.. simply goes to above.. :'(:'(

I can second that. I used a stylus pen on my 2012 Nexus just fine. The SAME stylus doesn't even register on the 2013 edition. It takes me THREE TIMES to "click" on things on my Nexus 2013. Really sad. Some times it even gets worse than that. I used to use my pinky when the stylus wouldn't register, now I have to use MY MIDDLE FINGER. The 2013 seems to like a really wide and vague object to press on the screen in order to register something.

The keyboard is AS* if you ask me. That's because if you accidentally slide on a key, the letter gains AN ACCENT. Most frustrating piece of **** anybody ever foisted on the paying public, IMHO. Fortunately I have a working bluetooth keyboard (Anker).

I do love the speed, smoothness, and high def screen on the 2013 and you're not going to take it away from me because of those things. However, I might just DRIVE A STAKE THROUGH THE SCREEN trying to get an app to open or something, it's THAT INSENSITIVE.

2013 ANNOYANCE: Face recognition log in. If for some reason the Nexus can't phone home to the Google servers when you hit the power switch...the stupid thing won't even attempt to take your picture. You'll be faced with a big gray box where your face should be. Beware, face recognition for log in requires wifi access to work properly, it seems. REALLY ANNOYING. I don't recall my 2012 Nexus working this way.

It needs to be able to compare your face to the known sex offenders, FBI, INTERPOL, and NSA databases.

My Nexus 7 just sits on an X all lit up and I have tried holding down the power button, holding it down with the down volume button.... When it does reset it either goes right back to the X or tells me "no Command" with a little robot..... Help!

I am on my second nexus, and I still experience the random reboots. Not as often as my first one, but annoying! Consisting returning it for a different brands tablet.

i have sent this thing for 3 repairs. here are the problems.

1. first time, it randomly shuts down. and i have to press on the button for a very long time just to start it.

2. second time, it started to randomly restart daily. one time, it restarted twice when i wasn't even using it.

3. the battery power seems to decrease really fast.

4. today, the camera screen became all black. i had to power off then restart, it solved the problem. i don't know if it will happen again in the future.
