List of nexus 7 2013 problems

Did anyone get a nexus 7 from Walmart and have any problems? Everyone seems to only get theirs from BestBuy, or Staples, or the internet.

I got mine from Walmart. First one had defective light sensor - would make screen flicker and go black when back light was under 35%. 2nd one from same shipment of stock has been perfect except for gps issue. I also bought the 2 year warranty for $28 (much less than other warranties).

I got my 32Gb from Walmart on July 26th. It's my original purchase and it's been perfect. I've never had "GPS Test" fail. I have zero screen bleed. There is zero screen problem with the two fingers test. I've never had even a single random reboot. The screen has no dead or stuck pixels.

My brother was impressed with mine and got his 32Gb at Office Max two weeks ago. We sat for a couple of hours comparing them yesterday and his is as perfect as mine.

I almost feel guilty reading about some of the problems some others on the forum are experiencing. Note I did say "almost".

Ok thanx. It seems no one mentions walmart.

Has anybody gotten a 64gb usb 3.0 ntfs formatted drive to mount? I can get a SanDisk 32gb to mount no problem but a Silicon Power 64gb will not. I am stock and rooted and have tried stickmount and usb otg helper. Both programs start up when I plug in the 64gb but just won't mount. The same otg cable works with the 32gb but not the 64gb.

Screw Asus and screw Google for even allowing them to make the latest nexus 7 after the slew of issues with the first one....I returned mine and went with the galaxy note 8

One minor problem and one not-so-minor:
  1. First key pressed upon appearance of keyboard doesn't make a click sound.
  2. Too many spontaneous reboots, including at times when it's just sitting on my desk.

Regarding (2), I'd assumed it was a software (OS) issue, but if only a subset of users are experiencing it, should I be suspecting hardware and looking for a replacement unit? I've had it for a week now and there have been maybe 10 resets.

Here's my list of ongoing problems:

-Wifi completely gone after powering up and getting stuck in a bootloop. Had to do a hard reset. (see here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-7-tablet-2013/306730-wifi-stuck-turning.html#post3005067)

-Screen lock flicker:

I suspect it's the case that I have on it. It has a smart wake/sleep function, although I don't see why the magnet would be on the inside flap of the case and not where the flap closes on the case. Sometimes when I would hold the tablet tightly by its sides, the screen would suddenly turn off. Other times I would pick it up by its left bottom corner and the screen would turn off. I took it out of the case and that seemed to fix the problem.

-Powered up one time to see that Nova Launcher had completely reset itself and I had lost all of my customizations. Pissed me off but I fixed it.
-Sometimes there's a lag when coming back to the home screen from the app drawer. The widget I have on my home screen disappears but then comes back.
-Powered up today and was greeted by random forces closes: gapps, Currents, Gmail, Rhapsody etc.

I'm still not convinced to return it since I believe it to be a software issue. My tablet is not unusable and that's what matters to me.

The nexus 7 3 (2014) is not going to be made by Asus. People think it will be mad by Google and LG, so the 3rd should be better than the 1st 2.

The way this one is working for me, I'll be skipping right over the 3rd and waiting for the 4th or 5th hopefully.

Mine is working great now. GPS works and I've had no random reboots. It may have been a silent update Google sent through to fix the GPS or it was the app I got to see what it was showing for satellites. Either way I'm happy it works again.

I haven't gotten my nexus yet, but I have a S3 and that thing reboots for no reason sometimes. The strange thing is it will do it 2 or 3 times in one day then it won't do it again for months. I just think it's a OS glitch. The GPS problems and the such I've been reading doesn't bother me as I am going to be using this mostly for ebooks for school.

It's really a shame there's so many people having issues...
Having owned an iPad, original N7, iPad mini, and now the new N7, I can safely say this is the best of them all.
No GPS issue, no Wi-Fi issues, no screen flicker issues, no reboots... This thing has been running so well for me. Good luck to those with lemons...

Having a problem with viewing pictures using an OTG cable, I have the New Nexus 7 2013, looked on the Play Store and found the Nexus Photo Viewer, plugged memory stick into the cable, plugged the cable into the nexus and a box came up and it said USB protected, it wouldn't allow me to view anything on the stick, any ideas? I really want the install the Nexus Media Importer so I can watch videos on the Nexus, but it says before buying try the Photo Viewer and if that works the Media Importer will work, so if I can't use the Media Importer I can't take lot's of films with me when I go away, I wish the Nexus had an SD card slot like my last tablet, but I thought it wouldn't matter as I could connect a memory stick, any help would be great and thanks in advance.
