List your EC05 Problems/Praise

Is is someone who knows from personal experience? This is the one sticking point for me and you are the first person to even answer the question. Thanks!

It was answered by multiple people on the EC05 update thread. Start your search around page 50. lol...

I am having horrible problems syncing with my Google Calendar. I can get my Exhange account (work) to sync fine but as soon as I enable the Google Calendar (personal), it sucks the life out of my battery and never syncs. I do get reminders though. Additionally, this isn't related to Froyo, I started was having this problem on Eclair just before EB13 was scheduled to roll. I have done everything that other posts have suggested, but nothing resolves the problem.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks,

Mindy

this info was recently posted on the sprint forums this evening:

“Buggy” EB13 phones – We have several posts stating that EB13 was buggy from the initial install, but performing a factory data reset resolved many of the issues and made EB13 quite stable. For those stating their EB13 is problematic, we recommend a factory data reset or even better the Sprint ##RTN, (which clears the programming info as well), prior to updating to EC05. Factory reset can be done through menu, settings, Privacy. The ##RTN requires a special code that customer care can give you. These resets have been quite successful in clearing many software anomalies experienced by some Epic owners. There are many backup applications in the market for those wishing to backup more than just contacts prior to performing the reset. For those unaware of the import/export feature for contacts, it’s a menu option when in the contact application and it copies your contacts to the SD. Export sends them to the SD; Import brings them back after the reset.

Speak Incoming Caller ID Feature – This feature was available on DI18 (Android 2.1) listed under the “Text-to-Speech” setting. Text-to-Speech has been changed to “Voice Input and Output” with the Text-to-Speech being a sub option. The Speak Incoming Caller ID feature was removed. There are, however, many apps available in the market that can add this feature back to your phone. Just search Speaking Caller ID in the market.

I downloaded an EC05 update from google and the only problem I'm having is severely fast battery drain. With a full charge and no activity I only get around 8 hours. DI18 performed much better.

Hooray, Calendar now has a Default Calendar setting which you can set to your Google calendar! So, you no longer have to manually set every event you create to Google.

Task killers useless in ec05 / 2.2

I'm not having any problems with ec05, except for one big one.

Apparently a change was made in 2.2 that renders task killers mostly useless. Tasks are killed fine, but not the services behind them, so the tasks restart themselves again within minutes. I've tried multiple task killers today, and none of them keep these tasks killed.

If you rely on task killers to improve battery life like I do, your battery life will become horrible with this update.

This is a severe deficiency. My phone went from lasting a whole day on a charge, to draining in a couple hours with ec05.

I'm completely happy so far with EC05. Thanks to a post I read when EB13 came out, the rotate screen lag is fixed.

I also found a sms messenger that can be made to look very close to the stock. If you prefer the stock messenger try Go SMS. To me it is closer in appearance to stock than handcent without any adds.

I'm very happy now.

Had ringo pro before the ota update, since update it has disappeared. Try to reinstall and it tells me the installation failed. Any ideas or anyone else have this happen?

I am hoping someone can help me; after the OTA update my battery is dying quickly. It seems as if everytime i look at my programs they are all open (advanced task killer.) I am not sure why all these battery hogging programs are just opening but it is killing me when i need my phone. I went to USA vs Argentina game and when i got lost and needed my phone -- it died. That being said, the newly integrated task manager does not show any programs being open. I believe they have to be though because I am getting very little use of my phone. I adjusted the advanced task killer to crazy, but, I am led to believe there is a larger issue at hand.

Thanks for any help.

My notifications are all wrong... Now it only vibrates on gmail, notification and our plays a long melody for sms and facebook notifications... How do I change?

Yes camera sports mode and low light video lay fixed - it is actually one fix that cures both - yes I have the problem and fixed the problem - the solution is here somewhere.

Oops! Just realized someone already answered you - damned small phone screen! :-)

So far the issues I have noticed are the auto suggestion feature totally blows, there is still severe lag when pulling the phone away from your ear while listening to a recording asking you to press for example 1 for English, the dialer comes up instantly, but I have to tap 1 a couple times before it takes, and I have also noticed a slight lag at times when opening an app before it opens, or say when backing out of one before it actuially closes.
Other than that I have no issues, and even the TWS bug has disappeared for me.

the auto suggestion feature never works for eb13. i think it is a general froyo thing and not specific to ec05

If I open my weather app and change the screen from portrait to landscape via rotating phone, the phone goes back to the home screen.

has anyone noticed a battery drain due to a high TWS? i noticed my battery was draining a lot faster than normal and when i checked my TWS it was at 52%. its never been that high before. i normally stayed between 1-3% TWS. i updated via Paul627g's method of [Odin-EC05] Froyo EC05 Prerooted/CWM v2.5.1.0 RFS (Odexed). any ideas? other than this my phone has been super fast. the 3G signal doesn't fade in and out like before and i can get on the internet and its really fast. before on EB13 it was beyond a slow crawl.

EDIT: well it seems as if the TWS issue fixed itself after a hard reset. i've been monitoring now for a few hours and its went from 52% and gradually lower. now its a 3% and been that way since 5PM. all is well again! EB13 was great for me and EC05 is even better and faster

TWS has been an issue with all of the builds with epic. The fix is to toggle the airplane mode on and off a couple of times.

I've never had a problem with it before until now on either 2.1 or on the EB13 builds...oh well

Not quite sure what to think of EC05 just yet. I had to Odin my phone back to stock Eclair and as soon as I got the phone back up and running the EC05 came through OTA. I had been on EB13 and knew I wouldn't be seeing the update anytime soon.

I had done the EB13 via the update.zip and had terrible problems with the phone locking up on me and random freezing and reboots.

Less than 24 hours into EC05 and I have had several lockups, a reboot and my TWS is still high (over 50%)

It is really pissing me off because I had wiped the phone and the SD card and didn't restore anything so it was like a brand new stock Eclair with OTA to EC05 and I'm still having the lockups.

Not happy.

I was running DK28 for a couple months....upgraded to EC05 using the zip method. Have had zero problems so far....

Thanks to all the smart people.

late,
Coz
