List your EC05 Problems/Praise

I had a very slow reaction when going to landscape and back. I did a screen calibration face down and it's much better.

the only other issued is the messaging app. It blows!

Thank you, I was getting po with it being slow.

My google navigation can't lock on to a gps signal unless I open the sprint one first. Where can I delete and redowload google nav?

I've had a couple of problems I don't see posted by anyone else:
1) Display locked in landscape. I had to reboot and recalibrate to clear it and get it to rotate again.
2) Screen doesn't blank when listening to voicemail so I keep bumping buttons with my ear or cheek.

As others have reported, it changed all my ringtones to stuff I really didn't like. Had to go fix them all.

My battery like is worse with EC05.

Update was OTA from stock eclair. Stock ROM. Not root.

The Bluetooth/low sound issue is still in EC05 as well as the infamous checker-boarding with the stock browser. Everything else is running well. Charging right now, battery life test is next.

Upgrading to EC05 caused my Epic to lose the ability to sync fully with Microsoft Exchange. Email and contacts sync, calendar does not. This is known issue throughout Android phones (all kinds of posts all over the internet for the last 18 months -- with no answers). Apparently a system update can cause it.

I'm just one of the lucky ones affected. It has to do with the architecture of the Android OS and its lack of complete integration with ActiveSync.

I've tried everything from hard resets, factory resets, wiping, Odin, different installs of EC05, rooting, non-rooting ... nothing works. There are some purported Exchange server potential work-a-rounds. That's my next stop.

Unless and until Google provides stable syncing with MS ActiveSync, they will not be competitive with business users (and "no," I don't want to use TouchDown as substitute for the built-in ROM calendar app). That's very unfortunate for Android and phone users.

When I got my epic about a month ago, setting up my corp MS Exchange was the first thing I did. Forgive me if I am stating the obvious, but did you have your company's security certificate saved to your phone? If so, it might have been wiped and thus rendering your MS-Ex unavailable.

I stored mine on my SD card and did the (Odin)+(no-kill-data)+(manual EC05) method aka Paul's thread. My MS-Ex actually works better/faster now than with eclair, if you can believe it. It takes less time updating folders, and there are even more email options in settings. True, it's not as great as WinMo -I was a faithful WinMo user since ATT's SMT5600!- but it's not too bad. Wish it sync'd Tasks or Notes though (preaching to the choir....)

I have had a couple of problems with the update so far...
First...i use my phone as an alarm clock but for some reason the ringers in it and in my text messaging keep turning themself off...it doesn't matter if its the stock ones that came with the phone or the ones I had been using from zedge...i have no idea why this is happening...it is also now happening periodically on my wifes epic that was updated. It only seems to be in the alarm clock and text notification.
Second....i am peridically receiving spoken text messages and for the life of me dont know why...i know its a feature but its purely random...any suggestions would be appreciated.

If no one's mentioned it, it's not unknown for a software update to lose the battery calibration settings. If you're suffering sucky battery life:

1. Let the phone run down completely - until it dies on its own.
2. Charge it powered off until the light turns blue.

Others will suggest you bump charge it, but in my experience the two steps above are enough to properly calibrate the battery. In addition, check to make sure they have (or haven't) fixed the Cell Standby - Time Without Signal bug (they have not in my observation). The phone may need an Airplane Mode toggle after power on/reboot.

I have been told more times than I can count that these batteries don't get a memory and requires no calibration or clearing of memory. I have tried the calibration on both mine and my daughters epic and have never noticed a difference.

Calander Quirk Event Time Sync ECO 5

Some Event Times were not showing in 1-Day View. Here is the NEW issue. If you set an event in Google Calender with the same beginning and end time no time shows up on the event on the EPIC in 1 - Day View. It is on the calerdar but without a time. This is useless.. The work around is to have all events with a minimum time between begin/end (default 30 min) and then it shows up.

It does show up in list ok, but seems none show up in the weekly view or longer... I don't get why this would be messed up but at least for me it is.

If I am doing something wrong, please advise.

Tom

It's been my impression this isn't so much a battery issue as it is a device issue - the device needs the calibration (with regards to the battery that's installed), not the battery.

Stock browser still force closes. Has been doing it since EB13.

Third party browsers like Dolphin work fine though.

Exactly right... has nothing at all to do with battery memory... it's how the new software interacts with the battery and properly gauges the juice... this is software training, not battery training if you want to think of it that way...

I have notice one thing so far.. when I click on the News & Weather App, The weather part doesn't seem to find my location. I'm not sure why, but it only works when I use a fixed location.

I noticed that the Accuweather widget does not show up in the new "My ID". It still shows up under the normal Sprint Id. I wonder why?

my phone is moving SUPER slow since the update last friday, also, it take forever to end a call and it seems like i have to PUNCH my phone in order to end one activity and move to another (such as move screen, access the net/facebook)!!! im getting very frustrated! insert sad face HERE!

My issues/gripes:
all sounds (phone, text, email) were reset
rotation is terrible (will try the face down calibration suggestion)
no longer get calender reminders (exchange, stock mail/calendar client)
no silent via volume keys
"alarm" replaced with "clock"
stock browser crashes whenever I try to scroll
music widget removed
hitting power when screen is off ("wake up") to turn it on is delayed
had to re-login to google (shouldn't be required in the first place but that's a different complaint)
still no way to see battery percentage by default

Noticed Improvements:

-battery percentage now shown when charging through a surge protector (before it only did when directly in the wall)
-default email program now has the option of more than just 30 days of emails

Overall, not impressed ... the "improvements" should have been available from the start

additionally for us that are rooted and have CWM you can wipe your battery stats (only recommended after flashing or upgrading/updating OS) by doing the following:

fully charge device to 100% charge
boot to recovery
go to - advanced > wipe battery stats > yes
go back to main menu and reboot

if i understand right in some cases accelerated drain is in fact not drain but the indicator and actual consumption are out of synch and this process helps get this back in check

hopefully one of our kind devs/mods/experts can confirm or correct this

Bluetooth problems

The Bluetooth/low sound issue is still in EC05 as well as the infamous checker-boarding with the stock browser. Everything else is running well. Charging right now, battery life test is next.

I am upset that the bluetooth problems are not corrected from EB13. The old "Moment" had better bluetooth then my pricey Epic. I agree (1) sound levels in the stock voice dialer are muted and uncontrolable, unless you're in the middle of a call...and you can turn the volume up mannually...which defeats the purpose of "hands free"....(2) STILL having pairing issues. I have Parrot Slim Kit, which still drops pair like in EB13..Also have Q2 headset which now and then drops pair in EC05... my friend's voyager pro doesn't, but another friend's icon does..my guess is Samsung/Sprint:-!:-! is still having problems with A2DP Devices and doesn't know what to do..and (3) when bluetooth is disconnected, all sound from the phone remains muted as if it is still coming from a non-existant bluetooth device...one has to turn the phone off and on in EC05 to bring back the sound...In some EB13 forums it was suggested to turn off the Bluetooth from the phone before disconnecting devices...This is hit or miss with EC05...Today, the phone froze when the device was disconnected....I'm going to try a hard reset, but I did this in EB13 and it didn't help...my guess it won't help in EC05 !!!...What a shame that a phone as muscular as this is outdone by a weak piece of equipment like the "Moment" !!!

EC05 maybe a problem or it may not be

I did the original Froyo update about a month ago and after completion I noticed my phone now included a standard task killer app. I kept the one I downloaded from the markert (Advance Task Killer) just to have a back up, and the two seemed to work just fine.

Well there appears to be a problem with the Advance Task Killer app I downloaded from the market. After I completed the EC05 upgrade, I have to press the "kill selected apps" several times before the program closes down. Some times I have to force it close. Do I really need this app? I mean the phone comes with one thanks to Froyo. If I don't need it, I will get rid of it.

Thanks in advance guys!!
