List your EC05 Problems/Praise

My wife's epic isn't shutting down on its own but it does freeze up on her. Does anybody have an explanation for the freezing on EC05? Sometimes it will freeze for about 2 minutes before she can do anything on it. She has rebooted several times. She won't let me flash or root her phone so I'm kind of up in the air on how to help her.

This is similar to what I've been having, except I sometimes catch it having issues, commonly with GMail, but sometimes with other applications. Sometimes it buzzes to indicate it's having problems, then freezes, sometimes it resets. I've flashed EC05 multiple time to see if that resolved the issue (using Odin and the pre-rooted EC05 image), without any success. I DID lower the frequency of GMail crashes by emptying out a folder that had 4000+ messages in it (work email, saving every change request notice since 12/09).

Doesn't matter which player I use, stock, tunewiki, amazon...they all periodically stop playing. Really annoying.

Is there a fix

I got the download, now my phone will not auto rotate. only on launcherpro and gingerbread. it will not on touchwiz or home. is there a fix yet?

One improvement for me is that after the upgrade the GPS worked for the first time.

Others have mentioned the double vibrate / app crash ... that has happened to me a few times but I haven't been able to pinpoint a cause

Anyone else have the phone vibrate as a notification that it is powered off? What is the point of that??

I have seen the vibrate on power off (that started on EB13 for me).
Also have a vibrate at power on (also started on EB13), and vibrate just prior to fc.

I can't get my home icons (on any screen) to work in landscape mode. I can see the background, but no icons. If I return to portrait mode, after 30 seconds or more then the icons reappear. No problem with autorotate in any app though. Any idea how to fix this?

Did someone earlier say Sprint rep said update was corrupted or something ? I've spoken to Tech on phone and took phone into store where they kept it for 2 hours and said everything was OK and that they had not encountered any major issues that a hard reset could not correct = so they did that with mine , but then the "updating profile" and "updating prl" would not work , so they said they were gonna have to order me a replacement phone (refurbished I'm sure) so not sure if this was EC05 issue or actual phone issue ( worked fine before and actually seemed fine now except for battery drains pretty fast and screen takes awhile to rotate )

Have noticed that when I restart my phone, my Skyfire icon that I placed in the dock in place of the Internet icon disappears.

If you have moved the Skyfire app to your card by any program - 3rd party or the built in app2card, then try moving it back to the phone, as that might cure it.

I have noticed that when I move an app to my card that resides in a folder on my desktop that happens. I tested that same thing when my app was pinned to my dock and that survived, but it migh be because of the launcher I use. The icon always seem to be there in the app drawer though and is not affected by the apps2card move. BTW, I use LP+

This is an "upgrade"?

So far after updating to 2.2:

1) Phone randomly reboots
2) Phone randomly freezes up and vibrates uncontrollably (need to pull
battery)
3) Bluetooth works, but most of the time freezes the phone if left on after
disconnecting from a paired connection (need to pull battery)
4) Screen constantly flipping to horizontal if I even think about moving it,
then forced to shake it like an epileptic to get it back to vertical
5) Slight delay in screen waking up after hitting wakeup key
6) Battery drains at a ridiculous rate vs 2.1 with the same settings & apps
7) TWS bug STILL not fixed and need to do silly airplane mode toggle after
reboot!!
8) DRM service STILL needs to be manually killed after reboot

But other than that... It's great! :p

Since I updated from EB13 to EC05 I've had a couple of significant issues. I've seen one of them alluded to in this thread, but nothing about the other. I'm not rooted.

1) The one that I've seen is the problem with my PC (on Windows 7, 64 bit) not recognizing the phone when connected via USB. I haven't figured out how to correct this yet, other than the suggestion of a powered USB hub. I can buy a powered USB hub if necessary, but I don't understand why one would be required now when it worked before EC05.

2)My second problem is a little bit bigger. Occasionally it seems like the phone will stop recognizing files on the Micro SD card. I use Ringdroid to make my ringtones and they get saved to the SD. When the phone stops recognizing those files my phone stops ringing. While messing around with the phone while this was happening I realized that the phone still sees those files but it doesn't know what to do with them. I attempted to open music files with both the stock music player and Winamp and it says that the file type isn't supported. If I reboot the phone it seems to correct itself. Anyone know what might be causing this and how to correct?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't have any issues so far. Works flawless! I did and always do a factory reset whenever I upgrade or use a different ROM....

This could be some of your issues...new ROM no factory reset = #fail

My biggest gripe is that the keyboard skips more than ever now. I'm curently trying to deselect swype to see if that helps, but when I would do this on DI18 it would automaticaly select itself again. I don't want to to root, and when I tried custom ROMS with the "fix" in them, they never worked.

Other than that, the overall "smoothness" of EC05 isnt close to the framerate eclair had. I just can't wait for cm7 or the nexus s if I can trade...

Playlist reversed

My playlists (sync'd from Itunes via Sailing Media Sync are now all in reverse order.

I've had this problem too - haven't seen it cataloged anywhere else. I'm using isyncr so it doesn't appear to be the sync program. Very annoying. I tried deleting and re-adding my music. Same deal - still showing up in reverse order - no way to fix other than re-order them on the phone one at at a time. I don't have 2 hours of my life to dedicate to that. I first noticed this in EB13. Literally the only complaint I have on the update. The shame of it is I think the music player is greatly improved; especially like that it comes with an equalizer now.

Oh, I did experience issues with Exchange working after the the upgrade - email would still work but not calendar or contacts. Sprint recommends a factory reset, and they do it so cavalierly. Well, excuse me if I'm not rooted and don't want to lose data like my well earned Angry Birds progress. So instead I found somewhere on this forum a method that worked for me.

Anyways, the method as I remember it: first deselect syncing for that account. Then got to settings>applications>manage applications>running and select calendar storage then select clear data. Do the same for the calendar ap. Power off phone and power back on. Set up sync for your account. Wait for things to repopulate (this can take awhile if you sync your whole calendar). Brought back my contact sync ability too.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Just tested my phone to my Windows 7 64-bit system. Works the same as before. I have made no changes. The USB port is directly on the desktop PC I am using. You mention hub. If you are attempting to use a hub based USB port, that is likely your problem.

A direct connect to a PC is better than a standard or a powered hub - try a different usb port or cable

I can confirm this. I can't get any computer to recognize my ec05 epic. My work computer, my laptop, my desktop, xp, vista and win7, nothing works. And yes, my phone worked fine on every one of the computers above when I had eclair. Also tried it with two different cords.

I have come from a stock unrooted rom/kernel DI18 -> to a rooted EB13 still with stock rom ad kernel -> to a rerooted EC05 stock rom and kernel and it has always worked on my main XP machine - I use to connect to it at least once a week as I do a sync to my hard drive and/or whenever I make a major change - so far I have connected my epic to my computer thru the three upgrades at least 20 time with no problems since Dec 2010.

I have heard that some who had problems like yours must have usb debugging checked - although I do not have my usb debugging checked when I sync my phone to computer which is the normal way.

So over it :-/

Okay, so I read about doing a hard reset after the "upgrade" in a couple of different forums, so I figured I'd do that since I ranted about my Froyo issues but never gave a hard reset a try.

Well, today I did a hard reset and my Epic rebooted and then.....it promptly froze up and started vibrating violently with the screen black and home keys lit up!! FAIL!!! :-\ Oh, and I STILL have the TWS bug, and I STILL have the DRM bug. The checkerboarding on my browser is EVEN WORSE now and I haven't tried my Bluetooth yet, but I'm sure that'll still be fracked, too. Oh, and the only feature I was really looking forward to, the apps to SD, is a failure as well, because I cannot find them anywhere on my SD card, and now have to re-download every friggin' app....AGAIN!!

What a joke these phones really are. I've ranted many times before about the fragmentation and delay in companies putting out "updates", so I'm not doin that again, but I am so over all the nonsense associated with these "smartphones". When, oh when, is Sprint ever gonna get the iphone so I can just have a phone that actually works without me having to tinker with it?!?!?:mad:

I experience all of these as well.

Additionally, I get the phone vibrate after power down...I don't understand the point of that either. My phone didn't start randomly rebooting until today. I can't related it to anything I have done.

Also, I have a few folders on my homescreens with shortcuts to programs (i.e., games), and I get a lot of FCs with Words for Friends, Stupid Zombies, and Angry Birds.

The auto-rotate I find really annoying since it takes very little to rotate the screen.

Launcher Pro Plus seems to crash more frequently now. I don't know if that is 2.2.1 or the present version of LPP.

I can't tell if the battery life is worse or what, but when on Eclair, I used to get 1.8x to 2.0x with JuiceDefender, but now I am getting 2-2.4x under the same circumstances and environments. I dunno.

Anyway, It's bringing me closer to flash to Syndicate. I don't know if that will fix things or what.
